“I was a little nervous” – Katie Grimes confesses about having misgivings pertaining to safety standards of River Seine
Katie Grimes was unsure of what would ideally be the quality of the water in River Seine after discussions in the run-up to the Games.

Katie Grimes touted as the next big thing in the world of swimming opened up on her exact feelings about diving into the much-talked-about River Seine. She admitted that she wasn’t exactly sure about the cleanliness of the river, a concern that was talked about extensively in the run-up to the games.
The gentry of the water flowing through the River Seine had been under intense scrutiny. France ensured that they were channelling all their sources to make the river safe for the athletes. There were large portions of financial resources which were utilized to ensure the fact that the safety standards were met. As revealed by Grimes in an exclusive interview with TMZ, she had her inhibitions running wild but once the race started, she was at her phenomenal best.
I was a little nervous before I got in, just hoping that I didn't get sick. But I honestly didn't think about it once while I was racing and I didn't get sick at all afterwards, so I'm really grateful for that. I hope I don't ever have to go in the river again, but it was a lot of fun. The river was definitely a challenge. I've never had to swim with a current like that before. But it was such a historic race and something I'll never forget.Katie Grimes told TMZ
Grimes finished 15th in the marathon event, a result that she would take any day considering the sizeable obstacles that she had to brave at the tender age of 18. She also pointed out that it wasn’t just her who was concerned with the water quality and the safety standards of Seine but her contemporaries echoed her fears too.
A glance at the Women’s 400m Medley in Paris Olympics
In what was a dramatic showdown in the Women’s Swimming 400m medley in the Paris Olympics, Katie Grimes landed a historic silver. In a star-studded race that featured the likes of Emma Weyant, Freya Constance Colbert and Ella Ramsay, the young Grimes clocked 4:33:40 to bag the second position, bettering her performance in the heat which read 4:37.24.
Canada’s Summer McIntosh clinched gold with a timing of 4:27.71. She clocked 10 seconds better than her finish in the heats which read 4:37.35.
It was Emma Weyant who clinched bronze with a showdown completed within 4:34.95 in the finals. A visible drop in her numbers after acing the heats.
