I knew Aug. 3 was the day that I won in 2012. And I didn’t want Aug. 3 to be a day that I didn’t like moving forward...I’m just really happy that I could get the job done. I definitely wouldn’t have pictured this in 2012.

She said that she “put a put a lot of pressure on myself”, but now that all hard work is paid off “I’m just really happy.” Ledecky said that she never would have predicted how her career in swimming would turn out after her 2012 win.

Titmus was left in tears after missing winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, but her sportsmanship act touched the hearts of many. She happily congratulated Ledecky both as a competitor and friend.

Both of them were seen embracing each other with a huge smile on their faces. They further raised their hands towards the crowd to hear them cheer for the historic event. They proved that apart from being rivals, they are close friends outside of the water.

Saturday proved to be a huge haul day for the USA. Not only did Katie Ledecky win the gold, but Simone Biles also added another gold to her medals closet. Swimmer Julien Alfred finished behind the two stars, while Melissa Jefferson won bronze in the race.
