“Nobody stood out…” Kawhi Leonard gives BRUTALLY honest response on Clippers teammates
Kawhi Leonard had a brutally honest answer when asked for his thoughts on his Los Angeles Clippers teammates.
Kawhi Leonard
Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard made headlines for his recent comments regarding his teammates. The Clippers have flown into Hawaii for their preseason training camp, where they lost 90-91 to the Golden State Warriors in their first preseason game.
Leonard, however, does not seem to be a big fan of what he has experienced at the training camp lately. He stated that he hasn’t seen any teammate that ‘has stood out.’ The Clippers’ 2024–25 roster includes several new players following Paul George‘s summer departure.
After spending the previous five seasons in Los Angeles, George left the Clippers and joined the Philadelphia 76ers, who awarded him a new four-year, $212 million contract in free agency. The Clippers re-signed James Harden on a two-year, $70 million contract and Leonard will get to start alongside his All-Star buddy.
The Clippers have also signed several free agents, including defensive-minded guard Kris Dunn and forwards Derrick Jones Jr. and Nicolas Batum, who are anticipated to be in head coach Tyronn Lue‘s rotation. However, these stars have yet to impress Leonard. When asked who stood out to him at the Clippers training camp, did not mince his words.
Former NBA legend said THIS about Kawhi Leonard amid injury issues
James Harden and Kawhi Leonard have become the Clippers’ primary players after Paul George was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. However, NBA legend Kendrick Perkins was not thrilled with the remaining big players on the team. He even recommended the franchise to trade Leonard citing the numerous physical injuries the 33-year-old has had to deal with over the years.
Despite his reputation for taking provocative positions, Perkins may have a point there. For any team to have a shot at winning the title, its star player must be completely healthy and available at all times.
From a business standpoint, however, trading Leonard would be foolish, especially when the Clippers are moving into their new arena, The Intuit Dome. They require a superstar, like Leonard, to draw in people and money.
