As the Los Angeles Clippers won their 2nd game on the trot in the 2020-21 season beating Denver Nuggets 121-108. Their marquee player Kawhi Leonard was forced off the court when he accidently collided with a teammate which left him to get 8 stitches on his face. The incident happened in the 4th quarter, when Serge Ibaka went for a rebound with his elbow up which struck Kawhi Leonard’s face badly.

Paul George was the top scorer for the Clippers with 23 points. Whereas Nikola Jokic led all the scorers with 24 points. The incident made PG 13 worry about his partner a lot and seemed really concerned. A bloody Kawhi was forced off the court thereafter. Leonard had 21 points to his name in the game till then with 7 assists and 5 rebounds against his name.

“Really worried,” George said. “I was thinking of the worst. I didn’t know if he was concussed or how hard of a hit [it was] or what actually happened because I didn’t see it. Just saw him laying on the ground. That was first and foremost, just making sure he was OK.”

Kawhi Leonard’s departure did not change the outcome of the game, luckily for the Clippers.
Nothing was said,” coach Ty Lue replied when asked what the Clippers said to keep their composure down the stretch without Leonard. “You know, just next man up. We know Kawhi is a great player. We got to have the mindset that if he goes down, everybody has to be able to step up.”

The Clippers would be hoping that Leonard returns to the court as soon as possible. Even Nicolas Batum spoke to Leonard after the game and said that the latter was doing just fine.

“You don’t want a player, any player, [to] go down like that with blood all over him and everywhere on the floor,” Batum said. “I think he’s good. I just saw him in the locker room, he was OK and that was kind of scary in the moment.”
