The Los Angeles Clippers have endured a poor start to the 2024-25 NBA season. A lot was expected from the Clippers going into this season. However, their star man Kawhi Leonard getting injured and another former star Paul George leaving the franchise added more problems to their side. Despite moving into their new Arena, the Intuit Dome, the Clippers have failed to perform admirably.
Leonard’s absence has proved a costly miss for the franchise. Interestingly, he seems dissatisfied with what he has witnessed in the NBA this season. Recently, Patrick Beverley revealed some text messages he has received from his former Los Angeles Clippers teammate. The incident happened on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone.
I talked to Kawhi on the phone yesterday. He healing up. He still look like a f***ing machine. Klaw, that’s what I got him in my phone, (texted) ‘The league stinks right now. Views are low… They are waiting on the Klaw.

Leonard was a little sarcastic there. In any case, the six-time All-Star is correct when he says that this season’s viewership is declining. This has essentially been the case from the beginning, as evidenced by the 42% drop in NBA viewership in Week 1 after a strong opening night performance.

Nor has there been a rebound as of yet. Front Row Sports reported that through November 21, ESPN’s viewership dropped by 28%. TNT’s viewership had also dropped by 3%, but the Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Cup matchup on November 19 helped close the difference.
On the other hand, Leonard will hope to make a swift return to his side. Many believe that Leonard’s return will change the tide of the Clippers’ performances this season.

After 21 games in the NBA or a quarter of the season, the Clippers have a 12-9 record. The team’s offensive rating is 24th, its defensive rating is 4th, and its net rating is 10th. Many Clippers fans feel ecstatic over the prospect of a healthy squad with a player like Leonard joining the current version of the franchise.
