Kayla Harrison is one of the most accomplished American Judoka. After the end of her Judo career, she smoothly transitioned to MMA with the PFL. At one point in her career, she was the face of the PFL. Now, she will make her mark in the UFC against Holly Holm in a bantamweight bout at UFC 300.
Harrison is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. Her two Olympic Gold medals are proof of that. Even though Holly Holm is over 40 years old, Harrison is not taking her lightly. She only had good things to say about the former UFC bantamweight champion.

Harrison considers Holm the biggest test in the division. Moreover, she predicted that the one who implements the game plan will emerge victorious in their fight. For someone who had never weighed less than 150lbs in professional MMA, making 135lbs is a hard ask.
Nonetheless, if anyone could do it, it would be Kayla Harrison. A victory over Holm could put her next in line for the title. Raquel Pennington, the current champion, had already voiced displeasure if something like that could happen. Nevertheless, Harrison is deadset on becoming a UFC champion.
Female UFC commentator on the potential of Kayla Harrison
Laura Sanko made big waves in the UFC outside the cage. Many consider her as one of the best commentators in the game. Recently, she faced criticism for it from Jamie Varner, an ex-UFC fighter. Nonetheless, she has overwhelming support from the MMA community.
In a recent interview, Sanko shared her thoughts about Kayla Harrison. Sanko, a former atomweight MMA fighter, only had high praise for Harrison. She stated that Harrison’s potential is essential for promotion.
Not only is she [Kayla Harrison] capable of going out there and running through people like we've seen her do, she's excellent on the mic, and there's a lack of that in women's MMA.Laura Sanko via The Fighter vs The Writer
Sanko is not a fan of vile trash talk. However, she felt that female fighters remained respectful towards each other in a boring manner. Ever since Ronda Rousey lost the title, there has not been a superstar in women’s MMA in the UFC. Even though Amanda Nunes achieved credentials to become a GOAT, she could not attract mainstream fame. Now, Harrison has the chance to become the next Ronda Rousey.
With Harrison in the mix, Sanko felt the UFC may have found their next female superstar. Moreover, there is Julianna Pena, the former champion, another trash talker. It takes two to tango, and a potential fight between Pena and Harrison could become a lucrative business for the UFC. Only time will tell if Sanko’s assessment of Harrison becomes true or not.
