- Kayla Reid is concerned that Ryan Lochte's new coaching job in Missouri will negatively impact their children's emotional stability.
- Reid plans to remain in Florida with their three children, as they are settled and attending school there.
- Lochte claims he is financially stable and intends to visit his children monthly despite the distance.
Ryan Lochte, four-time Olympian and 12-time medalist, was recently announced as the assistant coach for the University of Missouri swimming and diving team. Lochte, 41, was one of the highly celebrated figures in the world of swimming before his downfall following the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
The swimmer retired from the sport after his exclusion from the United States team for Tokyo. In 2016, he met Kayla Reid, model and Playboy Playmate of the Month for July 2015, whom he later married in an at-home civil ceremony in 2018. The couple have three children together, Caiden Zane, 8, Liv Rae, 6, and two-year-old Georgia June. Reid filed for divorce last year on the grounds of betrayal.
The pair currently has a joint custody agreement, but Lochte’s new job in Missouri might make things difficult. A few weeks back, a disheveled Lochte announced that he accepted the job in Springfield, a gig that came his way through his new girlfriend Molly Gillihan. The pair is set to move to Springfield in June as the new season starts from Gainesville, Florida, which is around fifteen hours away.
Sources close to the model have indicated that Reid doesn’t plan to move as the kids have already settled and are doing schooling in Florida. She also works as a realtor in the area. According to an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Lochte stated that he plans to jet to Florida once a month to see his kids, as well as have them over in Missouri during summer vacations.
Supposedly, Reid isn’t very fond of the distance between the father and the kids following the former’s move and new job. Sources reported that she’s quite worried about the children’s emotions and stability with seeing one parent less at an age where they’re too young to understand long-distance parenting or what the schedule looks like in the long term.
Ryan Lochte says Gainesville has become a place where he can’t live anymore
Ryan Lochte, who’s fell in love with Missouri and feels like he’s home there, told TMZ that Gainesville has become toxic for him to live. He claimed that the town hates him and his girlfriend and alleged that they are constantly shunned by “the constant bullying and harassment we [Lochte and Gillihan] get on a daily basis from my ex [Kayla Reid] .”

He also alleged that Reid and her friends have stirred trouble with Gillihan’s employment, stating that they got her fired with calls purporting her to be a mistress and having intimate relations with a married man. Furthermore, the swimmer also said that he tried getting the kids along with him to Missouri by offering Reid the family home in Florida, the assets it has, and an additional $25,000. However, it seems that the offer wasn’t accepted.
Earlier, in the aforementioned interview with the Post, he also addressed that the new job has nothing to do with financial struggles. He told them that he’s financially “A-Ok,” and he can take care of the whole blended family, which includes his three kids, Gillihan, and her three children. He told NY Post:
I’m financially A-OK to support me and my entire Brady Bunch family. took this job because I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this. When I was swimming, I had a fire burning inside of me of becoming the best and that’s what drove me every day, every year.
He claimed that the sale of his Olympic medals, 9 of the 12, which brought him $551,520, had nothing to do with keeping him above the water. He blasted the media for getting the facts wrong while noting that he did have a tax debt, but he has worked through all of that.
