Kayshon Boutte provided a stern reply to Sean Payton‘s remarks ahead of the big AFC Championship showdown. The New England Patriots’ wide receiver made it clear that his teammates won’t lie down and accept defeat at Mile High.
On Thursday, reporters caught up with Boutte inside the Patriots’ locker room after practice. After hearing Payton’s comments, Boutte returned the favor with a jab of his own.
They can rest in Cancun… At the end of the day.

Boutte’s response came after the Broncos’ head coach took a jab at Patriots fans who plan to cheer for their team at Empower Field on Sunday, January 25. “They’re going to have plenty of rest after this one,” Sean Payton had said.

Both Denver and New England finished with an identical 14-3 record in the regular season. That being said, the Broncos took the first seed due to head-to-head record and earned home-field advantage.
New England took the longer route. They beat the Chargers in the wild-card round and the Texans in the divisional playoff to earn a spot in their first conference title game since 2018. The Broncos, meanwhile, overcame a tricky Bills team to set up the high-voltage matchup against the Patriots.
Kayshon Boutte shares his thoughts on the Patriots’ offense outplaying the Texans’ defense
Despite being the away team, the Texans arrived in Boston with a better win probability than the Patriots. It was mostly thanks to the Texans’ elite defense, led by Danielle Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., Derek Stingley Jr., and many others.

FOX Sports metric ranked the Texans as the best defense in the NFL. They kept a chokehold on large parts of the game. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was sacked 5 times, fumbled the ball 3 times, and lost twice.
However, Maye kept his cool and, despite throwing an interception, the second-year signal caller delivered three clutch touchdown passes to secure the win for New England. Boutte shared that he and his teammates were fed up with hearing about how great the Texans’ defense was before kickoff.
All last week we sat there listening to all about how good the Texans’ defense is… Obviously, we know [they’re] good… That was fuel for us. We like the underdogs. Underdog story is always good.

Maye made sure to shower his wide receiver with due praise for the remarkable TD catch.
I mean, what a catch [by Kayshon]. Time and time again, he’s made big-time catches, and he deserves more chances. I’m looking forward to playing with him every time I get out there. He’s made some great catches.
