U.S. Captain Keegan Bradley is not holding back. In a recent podcast appearance, the 8-time PGA Tour winner dropped a huge warning to Ryder Cup hopefuls as the race for the spots gets into the final stretch.

This year, the Ryder Cup will be hosted by the United States at the Bethpage Course in New York. Following a crushing defeat in Rome two years ago, team USA will be hoping to bounce back with Bradley serving as the captain.

So far, World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is the only one who has confirmed his spot in the team. A total of 5 more golfers will automatically qualify for the event due to their standings.

The top 6 golfers in the standings automatically qualify. Apart from these 6 players, 6 others are picked by the captain who are positioned 7th to 15th in the standings.

Bradley himself is in the running. After his win at the Travelers Championship a couple of weeks ago, he rose to 9th in the standings. Well, he could technically pick himself and serve as the playing captain, he has not made any choice regarding this as of yet.

While speaking on the Fore Play Podcast, Bradley sent a warning to the hopefuls. He expressed that only the top 6 will be guaranteed to play in New York, and even a 7th-place finish could see a golfer not get selected.

The simple fact of this is if you’re not in the top six you can’t expect to be on the team… You cannot expect to be on the team if you don’t finish in the top six – even if you’re seventh.

Bradley has been through this process and brought up his 2023 snub by Zach Johnson. The 39-year-old golfer had finished 11th in the standings. However, he did not get picked by Johnson and was not a part of the team. In the podcast appearance, Bradley admitted that he was “not mad” at the former Masters Champion for not picking him up.

3x major champion urges to throw out politics and make Keegan Bradley as playing captain for 2025 Ryder Cup

Keegan Bradley stunned the golf world with an incredible comeback victory at the 2025 Travelers Championship. Since that triumph, many have urged him to take up the playing captain role for the 2025 Ryder Cup. A 3-time major champion has urged to throw out the politics and make him play.

In a recent appearance at the Up & Adams Show, 3-time major champion Jordan Spieth was asked about the prospect of Bradley serving as the playing captain of Team USA. The former World No.1 would back him and expressed that he deserves to be on the team.

As of right now, if he’s playing as a top-12 American player, then he should be on that team, in my opinion. I think you throw out the politics, he’s got a great group of assisting captains around him…If this guy’s going to be one of the best ten players at that tournament, which is how he (Bradley) is playing right now, then of course you want him.

The last golfer to serve as the playing captain in the Ryder Cup was the late great Arnold Palmer in 1963. The 7-time major champion would captain Team USA to a 23-9 victory over Great Britain that year. Only time will tell whether Bradley picks himself or goes with someone else.

LIV Golfer hoping to catch Keegan Bradley’s attention for Ryder Cup squad at Open Championship

After the 2025 Scottish Genesis Open, many golfers will turn their attention to the final major of the year next week. Ahead of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, a LIV Golfer is looking to grab the attention of Keegan Bradley for the Ryder Cup squad.

While the PGA Tour stars are playing in Scotland, some others are playing in Spain. The LIV Golf will host the LIV Golf Andalucia at the Real Club Valderrama in Spain.

Ahead of this event, former Masters Champion Patrick Reed spoke on his outright chances of making it to the team. The 4 Aces star is ranked 34th in the standings and needs a huge performance next week to have any chance of making it to the tournament.

I think it all comes down to next week at The Open. Obviously play well here, but go ahead and win the Open Championship… The next couple weeks I have to play some solid golf, go out and contend on Sundays, have a chance to win golf tournaments, and if I do that, then hopefully Keegan picks me.

Reed has been in fine form in LIV Golf this year. The 36-year-old won the previous LIV Golf event in Dallas and has 3 more top finishes on the 54-hole circuit. He ranks 4th in the LIV Golf individual standings just behind Jon RahmBryson DeChambeau, and Joaquin Niemann.

His performances in the major championships have been mixed. After an impressive 3rd place finish at the Masters Tournament in Augusta National, he missed the cut at the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club. He did make a late jump on the final day of the U.S Open at the Oakmont Course and finished T23.
