Following his poor run of form for both club and country, the 30-year-old saw his fate worsen after an unfortunate error in an International Friendly against Scotland. Maguire’s error led to an own goal when the defender got unlucky while intercepting. This saw the ball deflect up and over England keeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Since then Maguire has come under severe criticism and has been the subject of numerous trolls on social media.
