On Friday, American rapper Kendrick Lamar stunned the fans with the surprise release of his new album ‘GNX’. In this, he seemingly paid homage to the Los Angeles Dodgers with a song titled ‘dodger blue.’

The 37-year-old’s love for Los Angeles is no secret. Born in LA, the rapper has dedicated most of his hard work to his home city. On top of that, he is a huge fan of the Dodgers and has often showed his affection to them by making public appearances at the Dodger stadium.

The Dodgers had one of their best seasons in 2024 as they won it all this year. The National League side finished with the best record in the league and overcame rivals San Diego Padres and the New York Mets to reach the 2024 World Series.

In the Fall Classic, they would dominate the New York Yankees and won the series 4-1 after coming back from 5-0 down in Game 5 to win 8-7. This saw them claim their eighth World Series championship.

Though Lamar’s ‘dodger blue‘ song does not have a direct reference to any of the players, it seems as a nod to the 2024 champions, who won their first full season title since 1988.

During the 2024 postseason, the Dodgers were seen celebrating with Lamar’s “Not Like Us” song in the clubhouse. The team would also use words from this song and wrote “they not like us” on X after winning the World Series.
