Kendrick Perkins expresses his frustration with the backslide in Bam's production
ESPN analyst and former champion Kendrick Perkins took to Twitter to express his discontent with the subpar performance of Miami Heat’s center-forward, Bam Adebayo. This season, Miami’s big man has regressed after a promising display on the international stage in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Since signing a three-year, $166 million maximum extension with the Miami Heat in July 2024, Bam Bam has been nothing short of disappointing. This compelled “Big Perk” to call out the 6’9″ defender for not living up to the expectations. Taking time out to state his disappointment, here’s what Perkins wrote in his tweet.

Following the Bucks’ 125-96 stomping of the Miami Heat, Perk couldn’t hide his frustration with Bam. Missing both of his three-point attempts in his last four outings and making only 5-of-12 field goals, Bam Adebayo is averaging just 15.5 points per game—a career low for him in the last 6 years.
What Perk was trying to highlight here is the wasted opportunity that was up for grabs in Miami in the wake of Jimmy Butler’s trade drama. However, seems like Bam Adebayo is busy keeping the flame alive between him and the WNBA diva A’ja Wilson.
The talks surrounding A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo’s relationship escalates
Pat Riley went all out during Dwyane Wade‘s statue unveiling ceremony. To show his appreciation for Wade’s continued contributions to the Heat franchise over the years, he even delivered a heartfelt speech in his honor. However, the infamous ceremony went viral for a couple of reasons.
The first was the detestable work done by the statue makers, and the second was the notable appearance of Adebayo and A’ja Wilson together. This was the first time these two were spotted together in public, further fueling the dating rumors. She has been in attendance at his games as well before.

Since then, social media interactions between these two lovebirds—like responding to posts with playful GIFs—have added to the speculation. Even the New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart teased the Las Vegas Aces’ center over her secretive relationship with the Miami Heat forward during her appearance on their podcast.
While it’s hard to say if focusing on his personal and love life is inhibiting Adebayo’s career trajectory, one thing is clear: Adebayo isn’t holding up his end of the bargain. With this lapse in output, the big man is struggling to find the rhythm. Nonetheless, he makes up for it on the defensive end of the board with his blocks and tight contests.
