Kendrick Perkins was not happy with Luka Doncic's defensive errors

Dallas Mavericks’ star player Luka Doncic has been the team’s standout performer in the 2023-24 NBA season, carrying them through crucial games. However, in the 2024 NBA Finals Doncic’s defensive errors have led to the Mavs being 3-1 down in the series. Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins believes he could defend better than Doncic.

Perkins claimed on SiriusXM NBA Radio that even at 39 years old, he could defend better than the Mavs superstar did in the NBA Finals. He mentioned that he himself would put in more defensive effort.

I damn sure put more effort. I give more effort. That’s the thing with Luka, was I a franchise guy? No, but I played with 13 Hall of Famers…and one thing that every single one of those guys did when I was playing with them, was that they competed defensively.

On the other hand, Doncic and his Dallas Mavericks have earned a lifeline by defeating the Boston Celtics 122-84 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Perkins will surely be keeping tabs on Doncic’s defense going forward, as one wrong step could cost the Mavericks the coveted NBA title.

Kendrick Perkins called out Luka Doncic on social media after Game 3 loss

Luka Doncic and the Mavericks had an abysmal performance against the Boston Celtics earlier in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Doncic fouled out in the fourth quarter, making the situation worse for himself and his team as they ended up losing on their home court. Following the game, Kendrick Perkins seemed furious with Doncic’s antics on the court and took to social media to share his views.

Luka needs to stop all that damn crying.

Interestingly, in 38 minutes of action, the Mavericks’ star player ended with 27 points, six rebounds, six assists, one steal, and an 11/27 field goal percentage, including 1/7 from three-point range. However, this performance alone was not enough for his team to secure victory against the Celtics in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
