Kendrick Perkins lashes out at Brian Scalabrine
The Boston Celtics kicked off the 2024-25 NBA season in the grandest way possible – by hanging a championship banner. However, a notable exclusion from the list of eminent former Celtics personalities was ESPN Analyst and NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins.
Kendrick Perkins was a part of the 2008 Boston Celtics that won the 17th banner for the team. Over the course of the summer, Celtics announcer and former player Brian Scalabrine went on SiriusXM to justify Perkins’ exclusion from the Celtics organization.
Scalabrine ripped apart Perkins, stating that the Celtics organization no longer welcomed him with ‘open arms.’ Perkins recently appeared on the All The Smoke podcast and had a scathing response to Scalabrine.

Perkins called out Scalabrine for stating that Big Perk was no longer welcome within the Celtics. The White Mamba’s criticism of Perkins came after a number of harsh takes that the ESPN Analyst had made about the Celtics.
Perkins had previously called for the Celtics to split the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He has also been on record stating that teams in the NBA are not scared of Celtics. Owing to the harsh criticism of his former franchise, the Boston Celtics decided not to call upon their starting center from their 2008 championship run.
Kendrick Perkins reveals special invite from Joe Mazzulla
According to Brian Scalabrine, the Boston Celtics have ‘black-balled’ Kendrick Perkins from their organization. While one would think that this would lead to animosity between Big Perk and the current staff within the Celtics, that is not the case.
Perkins told co-hosts Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes about an invitation he received from the mastermind behind the Celtics, head coach Joe Mazzulla.
Perkins has been critical of Mazzulla during the sophomore head coach’s early playoff woes. However, he confirmed that Mazzulla had invited Perkins out for dinner whenever the former Celtics big man was in town. Given Mazzulla’s eccentric character, it would seem right that he would like to set the record straight with his detractors.
