It has been a historic start to the season for the reigning and defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Kendrick Perkins believes they are not done yet. The Thunder may possibly be in the midst of a dynasty. They have not just been beating their opponents, they are blowing them out as they have a point differential of 16.2 points per game. Historic numbers.
Coming off a championship, the OKC have shown no signs of slowing down as they sit at the top of the Western Conference standings and the entire league with a 23-1 record and are currently on a 15-match winning streak. It is not just about winning, it is the dominance that they are displaying in every game.
One of the main reasons why many pundits and fans believe that the OKC have the potential to be a dynastic team is because of the strength of their squad, their depth and the number of picks they still hold. Their young players such as Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams have not even hit their primes yet.
The only player in his prime is their best player and reigning league and Finals MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander , who has been on a rampage this campaign. The guard is currently averaging 32.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists. SGA is second in the race for his scoring title and has already been compared to the legendary Michael Jordan for his elite scoring ability.
Former OKC center and ESPN analyst, Kendrick Perkins, is confident that his former team will break the 73-9 record held by the Golden State Warriors.
They might go 80-2. I mean this with every big bone in my body. That 73-9 record that GS got. OKC beating that this year. Hands down. They are not trying to go for it, they are just that damn dominant. They are beating that record this year.

Considering their dominance and winning-record at the moment, it is hard to go against Perkins’ words. But only time will tell if the OKC can achieve the near impossible.
Draymond Green believes that the Thunder can break the record
If there is one player who knows what it takes to break the regular season record, it is Draymond Green. The 35-year-old played an instrumental role in 2016 when the Warriors broke the Chicago Bulls 72-10 record.

After losing to the OKC, Green spoke about the team’s potential in breaking the 73-9 record.
It’s hard, man, but I do think they’re capable. You just need so many things to go right, though — from health, (although) they kind of plow right through health (issues), so it don’t matter. You need a lot of breaks to go your way, but they’re on the right track. I think 73 wins took some years off my life. But like I said, they’re capable of a lot.

It is still early days and there is still a long way to go and as Green said, health will be a key factor in determining whether the Thunder can break the record or not.
Kendrick Perkins disagrees with Rich Paul about the LA Lakers
LeBron James‘ long-term agent, Rich Paul, was not confident about the Los Angeles Lakers’ chances of winning a championship this season. While the Lakers have looked good in their first 23 games of the season as they sit at second in the western conference standings with a 17-6 record.
Paul felt the Lakers lacked speed, athleticism, length and would struggle with their style of play in the postseason. But Perkins disagreed with Klutch Sports founder.
Are the Lakers legit title contenders? I would say yes. Do I think they will win the West? No, because they have that dominant team in Oklahoma City in that conference there. But they would beat any team in the Eastern Conference if they was to meet up with them in the championship, in a seven-game series. The problem is that OKC is standing there.
With Luka Doncic, James and Austin Reaves leading the charge, the Lakers have a strong chance to make it to the Western Conference finals but with OKC standing in the way, a seven-game series against the defending champions may be very hard to overcome.
