The NASCAR garage is talking a much-required break because of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Two weeks of racing is off the table and teams finally have time this season to spend some valuable time with their families to recharge before going into Richmond refreshed. This break would also allow teams that are struggling to make the cars better.
For the racing fans though, it’s a tough time as there is very limited stock car racing content that is pout there for them to consume and though Olympics is a great alternative, it isn’t the same. Now Ex-NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has discussed in the recent episode of Kenny Conversations on how the break would affect he fans.
He told his co-host Charly Marlow that people might be missing NASCAR more than ever because of the break as he hilariously claimed they now don’t have anything to complain about. Kenny Wallace questioned that the fans might like NASCAR more because they miss it during the break.
Alright, will the two weeks that NASCAR is taking off for the Olympics make people like NASCAR more? There is just a thought, Charlie, that if you give the people what they want all the time, then they have a chance to complain. If you give them two weeks off, they might miss it. Will they like NASCAR more?... I think they’re going to miss complaining about it, and that’s going to make them love it more. So, I really feel like this is a brilliant move by NASCAR.Kenny Wallace said via Kenny Conversation.
Kenny Wallace’s co-hots agree with the statement
Charly Marlow, the co-host of the show, pointed out that he thinks the Olympics break is making people miss the sport more because of the weird Olympics break. He also added that though it isn’t two weeks break and more of three weeks break due to schedule.
Yes, and I think people already miss it. This is weird. This [Paris] Olympics break is weird. I’m trying to think of a football schedule—if you follow a team and you have a by-week, okay, you have a by-week. But to have two straight weeks off—and really, if you think about it, because if you race every week, it’s kind of like three off weeks, right? It’s three straight weeks.Charly Marlow said.
Fans missing the sport mid-way to the season is always great for the sport as it shows the passion they have for the events and also give NASCAR an opportunity to sell it’s product more. But they have to make sure that they would come back from the weekend with great racing product at Richmond.
