The NASCAR garage is at Chicago city for the second ever street race in the sports’ history. One of the main reason the sport came into the city was to expand it more to the population that are less aware of it and build a new market for racing. The lack of knowledge a lot of individuals at Chicago city crowd has about racing was on fully display ahead of the Xfinity race on Saturday.

The Athletic’s NASCAR reported Jeff Gluck shared a video via his X handle of Kyle Larson. The 2021 Cup Series champion, who is the biggest name in the sport was seen walking through the crowd wearing the fire suit. Unfortunately in the 14 seconds video shared it can be seen that no-one recognized the poster-boy of the sport.

Ex-NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace like many racing fans was really disappointed to see the video, though it is hilarious. He asserted, via X, that the sanctioning body has to market its drivers better as their biggest talent shouldn’t have gone unrecognized as it was shown in the video. It shows a lack of premotion the sport got ahead of the race.

Kyle Larson explains why track position won’t be the sole decider in the race

The No:5 Chevy will start at P1 in Sunday’s race after he qualified on the pole with his impressive run. But he understands that having good track position isn’t enough to win the race as he asserted that a solid car and great execution in restarts are really important as well.

Like Sonoma, for instance, like we had to restart towards the back. We just had a really good car and were able to drive to the front. We qualified good there, as well. So, I mean, yes, it helps. But you also have to have a good racecar and execute good restarts to pickoff spots quickly.
Kyle Larson said.

The HMS driver would be looking to win the race with authority and mark him name in the history. It will definitely help him to gain a lot of fans from Chicago, but with the likes of defending race winner Shane van Gisbergen as a challenger it won’t be an easy task.
