After a long and difficult season following UEFA Euro 2024, top players have finally started to return to their clubs. Manchester City welcomed back a significant number of their starters on Tuesday as the club shared clips of players punching back in for training. Out of all the players, Kevin De Bruyne turned heads as he flaunted his surprising new look in training.
City’s prized asset in midfield has been at the club for the greater part of the last decade, but has opted to keep it simple when it comes to his hair. That was the case till Tuesday morning, when Pep Guardiola and the rest of his teammates were treated to a pleasant surprise as he pulled up to training in an unconventional ‘top knot’ hairstyle.
While greeting his players, City boss Pep Guardiola made no effort to conceal his surprise as he analyzed the player’s new hairdo.
You have to explain to me this hair(style).Pep Guardiola told Kevin De Bruyne
After a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, it now appears that the Belgian will remain at the Etihad for now.
Fans react to Kevin De Bruyne’s surprising new look
He’s here and he’s perfect, or is he? Fans on social media were divided when it came to discussing about Kevin De Bruyne’s new look in training. The player rejoined the club after taking a few weeks off following UEFA Euro 2024. As Man City revealed his unexpected new look, a fan commented that De Bruyne subtly copied Erling Haaland‘s look.
Another claimed that he owed everyone an explanation for the unexpected change in style. A supporter jokingly observed that his head barely had enough hair for a ‘bun’ and that it was hanging on by a thread. The smile on Kevin De Bruyne‘s face, coupled with the fact that he was seen in a tight embrace with his manager gave fans confidence that he might end up staying this season.
Aged 33, the midfield maestro surely has a few more good years left in him, with any top club willing to employ a talent of his level. As per latest reports, Al-Ittihad have ‘cooled’ their interest on the Belgian and may even wait another season before going for him again. It isn’t difficult to see why City are reluctant to let go of one of the best midfielders to ever play in the Premier League.
