After exploding into the forefront last summer as a popular destination for players in Europe, the Saudi Pro League has shown no signs of slowing down a season later. From Ederson Moraes to Vitor Roque and many more, several big name players have been linked to the League in the past weeks. That being said, Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne remains the biggest name on their radar till date.
The links do not come as a surprise given the fact that De Bruyne expressed the possibility of a move to the League for a better package than the one he earns at City. At the age of 33, the Belgian claimed that he may end up playing in Saudi to support his family and their goals.
As per initial reports, it was understood that the midfielder had agreed personal terms with Al-Ittihad. However, the club are now denying the fact that there is no agreement and that their sole focus in on completing the signing of Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa.
The Diaby deal has reportedly been finalized for a fee of €60 million which will see the player be under contract with the club for five years. Diaby is set to fly to Saudi to compete his medical in the coming hours.
Manchester City risk losing Ederson Moraes to Saudi club
Al-Ittihad have been linked with Premier League champions Manchester City in the past few weeks. From Kevin De Bruyne to Ederson Moraes, the club are planning to secure two of their most important players in a single transfer window. While many cannot comprehend losing De Bruyne, Ederson’s situation is much more plausible.
The Brazilian is no longer an undisputed starter under Pep Guardiola, given the fact that Stefan Ortega has performed well last season. It is no secret that Ederson is willing to force a move away from the club, with news of him agreeing terms with Al-Nassr going viral in the past. The deal subsequently broke down, leading to interest from Al-Ittihad.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City are set to ask a fee in the region of €50-€60 million, making the deal difficult. At 30 years of age, Ederson has 6 Premier League titles, a Champions League and several other domestic titles to his name. The player joined City from Benfica back in 2017 and has made 250 appearances under Pep Guardiola.
