The 2025 NBA offseason is in full swing, and with that, many stars are enjoying their time off the court, some with their families, while some are busy releasing their podcast episodes. One of them is the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James. His Mind the Game Podcast, co-hosted by former NBA player Steve Nash, is making rounds among the NBA community.
Why? Because NBA veteran Kevin Durant recently joined LeBron James and Steve Nash on the podcast—sparking lively NBA debates and some inevitable trolling for fans.
Durant talked about a wide range of topics, including his career, the NBA, and being a professional athlete. He talked extensively on shot selection in a specific exchange, stating that he would like the ball to be in the hands of the best player rather than passing it to a player like Dorian Finney-Smith as the clock was ticking away.
Now, the twist here is that DFS has signed for the Houston Rockets, the same franchise that Durant joined a few days ago.
“@KDTrey5 now that he’s your teammate are you passing the rock to DFS with 2 sec left if he’s wide open,” one fan on X questioned Durant.
I rather take the grenades.

Durant quickly took a jab at DFS’s shooting, though it also felt like a broader point. Known for his efficiency, the NBA veteran remains laser-focused on shot selection like few others in the game.
Naturally, Durant was merely utilizing Dorian as an instance to demonstrate his team’s scoring mentality. Unlike other superstars, Durant constantly seeks the best shot and prefers to shoot so in the mid-range rather than pass it to a teammate. This was probably what Durant was trying to convey through his recent comments.
LeBron James dropped the hammer on Kevin Durant’s efficiency in the league
LeBron James was direct and complimentary on the Mind The Game podcast, calling Kevin Durant one of the league’s most naturally gifted scorers. He didn’t hold back in praising Durant’s elite efficiency, underscoring just how impactful KD’s scoring ability truly is.

He has not shot under 50% since 2012. In a league that does not talk about efficiency enough… this guy when it comes to three-level scorers, we haven’t had a scorer as equipped in our league as KD… ever.

One could term Kevin Durant as Mr. Consistent of basketball for the last decade. Giving a glance at his numbers, they are quite self-evident. With nearly 30,000 points, he is eighth on the all-time scoring list. His 27.2 points per game rank him fourth among players with at least 500 games played, which is fairly insane consistency.
Raptors snubbed the Kevin Durant trade to stick with their big man, Jakob Poeltl
Before Kevin Durant joined the Houston Rockets in a sensational trade deal from the Phoenix Suns, many teams were interested in him. One of them was the Toronto Raptors as well, per reports. However, the Raptors were reluctant to let go of their star center, Jakob Poeltl, for any Durant deal. This eventually led to them snubbing the Durant trade deal to stick with Poeltl instead.
Toronto didn’t want to include Jakob Poeltl in any trade for Kevin Durant. They wanted to give that a man a bag.

The Raptors have expressed their appreciation for Jakob Poeltl, their starting center. Originally selected in the 2016 lottery, the big man was re-acquired in 2023 and has since extended his contract with the organization. He will remain on the roster until 2030 under his new $104 million contract (spread throughout 4 years).
