The NBA Finals are on, yet many fans are rambling about legacies, playing styles and other stuff. In the middle of a Finals series between two of the deepest teams ever, other players and teams are taking up this conversation space. Kevin Durant has become a subject of one of these vintage NBA conversations.
The Suns superstar, reportedly on the move after a disastrous season, has always been Twitter-finger-happy. While many sports stars and celebrities try to remain above the fray, Kevin Durant believes in putting his thoughts out online. This has led to several memorable comments from him reaching the masses and showing his carefree side. Durant is a man of the people, and always has been authentically so.
His penchant for engaging random people in online conversations has allowed people a sneak peek into his thought process. While Durant hosts his own podcasts, has been a guest on several and has spoken openly about all levels of basketball, a glance at his tweets gives us the clearest impression of how he visualizes the game and all the elements that are associated with being an NBA player and a superstar.
His ability to properly contextualize his career and that of his peers and predecessors is quite valuable. Durant hasn’t shied away from replying to people talking baselessly about his skills and his career. This has often led to him being in situations ‘beneath’ the average celebrity. But Durant doesn’t care, opting to put his authentic self out there. He has also cleared a lot of myths and memes about playing in the NBA.
He got online yesterday to clear one of these misconceptions about his own career. It is a widespread belief that Kevin Durant has underachieved since moving away from the Warriors and hasn’t forged anything memorable. However, while this may be true on a team level, the truth is that Durant is the best-case scenario for any player to have recovered from an Achilles tear in American major league sports.
The Slim Reaper took his time to school people on NBA Twitter, pushing this notion.
I highly disagree, wanna debate??

Durant engaged with many other tweets in the same vein, proving how he’s gone from strength to strength on a personal level.
Where is Kevin Durant headed next?
The three top contenders for the Kevin Durant sweepstakes thus far look like the Rockets, the Spurs and OKC. The OKC Thunder would be glad to get the best player in the history of their franchise back – but only if they lose this year’s finals. Disrupting a winning roster wouldn’t make sense.
For the Spurs, a big consideration would be whether to maximize Victor Wembanyama during his rookie deal, or if he should be allowed to develop more before placing a team capable of title contention around him.
The Rockets are the likeliest contenders to land the services of Durant, as things stand. They own some of the Suns’ first-round picks, and just by returning them, they could land Durant without jeopardizing their roster. The team has youth, athleticism and size in spades and can bother any contender in a seven-game series. Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr all have the ability to become franchise cornerstones.
