Kevin Durant has done enough in his 18 NBA seasons to be guaranteed a spot in the Hall of Fame upon his retirement. Many supporters and commentators, on the other hand, think he went the simple route. This is nothing new for the NBA veteran, who often answers his haters, doubters, and fans’ compliments and criticism.
This time around, Durant was involved in a back-and-forth with a Warriors fan who took a sly dig at the NBA veteran regarding the upcoming 2025-26 NBA opening night, where Durant will face his former side, the OKC Thunder. The situation involved fans trolling Durant regarding his returning to OKC, where he will watch his former side lift up the banner and get their rings.
To which a Warriors fan trolled him during the back-and-forth. Durant did not keep quiet and came up with his hilarious dig in return.
Them finals mvps, they will never recover.

Notably, during his stay in OKC, Durant was beaten by the Warriors in the NBA Finals after leading them by 3-1. In the forthcoming season, Durant joined the same Warriors side, which many felt was a weak move. It was the simplest route for him to join a likely contender, and that side set an unprecedented regular-season win-loss record. He went on to win his only two titles to date, including two Finals MVP awards.
It’s safe to say that Durant has been going on and off with the fans over the last few weeks. Just two days ago, he was involved in a back-and-forth with a fan targeting his FG shooting. Now, a day later, Durant was involved in another beef with the fans who were hating on him as he returns to OKC for his first game of the new NBA season.
Durant’s return to OKC won’t be an ordinary one, given how he left the city back then. Many expect the NBA veteran to receive immense hate and trolls as he steps foot on the court on October 21st.
Kevin Durant had a wonderful reply to a non-hating fan on social media
Despite Durant being known to reply and have several back-and-forths with fans who consistently hate on him, some fans also see it otherwise. This was on full display when a recent non-hating fan asked Durant why he still keeps playing the sport despite fulfilling so much. The star provided a heartfelt answer in response.
My only reason for playing is because I love it.

The 36-year-old’s admirer likely thought that a player with 11 All-NBA selections and numerous other individual achievements was more than sufficient for any basketball player. However, the NBA veteran wants to keep hooping until he feels he is not able to do so. Durant has claimed this several times in the past during his podcast appearances as well. He just wants to enjoy the sport as long as his body keeps up with him.
NBA analyst makes a high Kevin Durant claim involving the Rockets ahead of the upcoming season
The Houston Rockets were solid in defense and aggressive in attack this past NBA season, showing signs of a proper contender for the title. However, after their elimination at the hands of the Warriors and Stephen Curry last season, fans felt there was a need for change in the team if they were to put themselves in the NBA title picture.

One of those changes was adding a primary scorer and closer on the side. They did exactly that by snapping up Kevin Durant in exchange for Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, sending them to the Suns in the process. Notably, analyst Kendrick Perkins made an interesting revelation regarding Durant and the Rockets, giving huge praise to the veteran player.
They had the pieces. They finished No. 2 in the Western Conference last year, and what did they lack? They lacked a closer. Jalen Green couldn’t be that. Kevin Durant is that. Arguably, in my eyes, the greatest scorer to ever touch a basketball.
Kendrick Perkins on NBA today
"I'm looking at the #Rockets right now as the 2nd best team in the #NBA, and they're just inches behind the OKC Thunder…"

With the Rockets’ side still comparatively very young, despite having talented players like Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson, an experienced closer was needed. By bringing in the future Hall of Famer, the Rockets’ general manager guaranteed Houston could contend for a championship with their youthful core intact for the upcoming seasons.
