The Phoenix Suns played their home opener against the Dallas Mavericks in their third game of the 2024-25 NBA season. Notably, the Suns were coming off a harsh defeat against the Lakers after blowing out a 22-point lead. Although, it was not the same this time. The Suns came out victorious against the Mavs, with their star man Kevin Durant leading the charge, winning by 114-102.

Interestingly, it was Durant vs Mavs’ star Luka Doncic battle on the court as both stars performed admirably for their side. Notably, Doncic led all scorers, scoring a whopping 40 points against the Suns. However, Durant’s ‘too small’ celebration against Donic and the Mavs caught the NBA community’s attention.

For context, during a particular play, Durant scored a beautiful jump shot and signaled with his fingers, sending out the message to Doncic being ‘too small.’ It’s important to note that Doncic guarded Durant during the game. Nevertheless, Durant got the better of the Mavs star on home court, giving his fans a reason to cheer.

Moreover, Jusuf Nurkic contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds to Durant’s 31 points for the Phoenix Suns. Additionally, youngster Ryan Dunn scored 13 points in his first career start, and Devin Booker contributed 21 points. In their upcoming matchup, the Suns will host the Los Angeles Lakers on October 28.

This is a huge feat for the NBA legend. Despite turning 36 last month, Durant remains one of the NBA’s finest players. The two-time champion averages 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

This showcases his immense shooting ability among the league’s top players. Also, he is not looking to settle down any soon. Before the 2024-25 NBA season, Durant stated that it was his dream to win an NBA title for the Phoenix Suns alongside Devin Booker and Co.
