Kevin Durant has been making the headlines lately after recent comments from former WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie. Notably, Durant is on the verge of creating history for himself, being the nation’s highest point-scorer as he needs just 6 points to pass Leslie’s (488 points) for the most Olympic points in USA history.

Interestingly, Leslie took some time to praise Durant’s longevity and his commitment to the nation over the years. She took to the social media platform, X to put forward her positive words for Durant and also “congratulated” the Phoenix Suns star well in advance. Also, Durant and Team USA are 3/3 wins at the 2024 Paris Olympics as they secured 1st seed in the group stages.

Well let me start to congradulate @KDTrey5 as he gets ready to break one of my Olympic records! The Slim Reaper!! One of my all time favorites!

Leslie texted Durant a note wishing him well, knowing full well that he would most likely shatter her record in Team USA’s upcoming game at the Paris Olympics.

On the other hand, Durant produced yet another strong showing in 19 minutes off the bench. His Olympic point total rose to 483 as he scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, and added four rebounds, and three assists. It now remains to be seen whether or not Durant shatters Leslie’s record in the upcoming matchup at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kevin Durant focused on “gold” rather than personal records

Basketball and Team USA star Kevin Durant has always been a selfless character and more of a team player, on and off the court. Recently, Durant passed another USA legend, Carmelo Anthony for rebounds in the men’s Olympic basketball competition. However, his selfless character came to show as he claimed he was focused on winning “Gold” rather than personal records.

It's cool to do that type of stuff but we're trying to get this gold.

This demonstrates Durant’s selflessness and his resonant concern for his teammates and team. Durant will be hoping to secure a record 5th Gold medal for his nation and his fans.

On the other hand, Jrue Holiday missed Saturday’s game due to an ankle ailment, but Team USA still prevailed without him. The two-time NBA champion, according to Team USA head coach Steve Kerr, will participate in Tuesday’s quarterfinals. It remains to be seen how Team USA fairs in the knock-out stages of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
