Kevin Durant gets real about Phoenix Suns fans booing them after going down 0-3 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs

For Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns, their 1st round playoff battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves has reached a difficult phase. Down 0-3 after today’s game, they face an uphill task to avoid elimination. No wonder Suns fans booed their team in the closing minutes of the game. Durant acknowledged it has been hard for them.

Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports asked Kevin Durant after the game about the booing.

Yeah, of course, we hear it all. They expect so much out of us, they pay their hard-earned money and they deserve to react how they wanna react. So, it’s on us as players to use it as fuel and hopefully it ignites us for next game.

In these 3 games, lackluster play from the entire team has led to this situation. Durant and Bradley Beal were brought in to team up with Devin Booker so that they could outscore any team. Not only have the trio been woeful together, their teammates also have not contributed much. They have been outclassed in every single aspect by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

No team in NBA history has ever come back from 3 down in a playoff series to win. Although not impossible, it seems Suns fans are now resigned to their team going on vacation earlier than others. Those boos came about when that reality sunk in.

Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns enduring a disappointing season

Phoenix Suns fans were overjoyed when Kevin Durant joined them via trade last year. Their joy grew tremendously when Beal also joined the team before the start of this year. But due to those trades, the Suns were limited in terms of bench strength and draft picks. Essentially, they mortgaged their future to earn success now.

Injuries to Bradley Beal and Devin Booker limited the amount of time the trio could spend together on the court. Since the start of this year, they managed to string together an impressive run of games. Suggesting that things were getting better. But the playoffs have showed their ugly side. It has exposed the deficiencies of this team which were somewhat camouflaged during the regular season.

If they are to try for a championship next year, those deficiencies will have to be addressed. Else there will be more booing from their own fans and Kevin Durant’s legacy will take a massive hit in the process.
