Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins were once teammates tasked with the goal of turning the then-budding Oklahoma City Thunder into a championship-winning team.

That goal faltered, and both eventually went their separate ways. While Perkins was already a champion, that era was the final few years of his career, and he eventually moved towards broadcasting.

On the other hand, his superstar teammate joined the Golden State Warriors and led them to back-to-back titles, with his two Finals MVPs as proof of Durant’s legacy as one of the greatest to play the game.

The “Slim Reaper” then moved to the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns, where he failed to continue his championship-winning run. His failures saw him garner a lot of criticism, with Kendrick Perkins being one of them.

The latter claimed last year that in trying to stay true to his job as an analyst on ESPN, he had lost the friendship of Kevin Durant as well as the likes of other former teammates, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

I’m LA working. Haven’t spoken to KD and damn near 2 years, but my Family went to the game in Houston, and this Happened!!! Real S**t.

This was the 41-year-old’s caption to a video where his former teammate met his four children after a Rockets game. This sums up that even though Kevin Durant was annoyed with Kendrick Perkins for his criticism, when it comes to family, those feelings are usually put aside.

Family tends to melt tensions away, as Russell Westbrook did on two occasions. One time when Durant’s mother called him over for a hug, and the other when the point guard met LeBron James’ family.

Kevin Durant used bizarre tactics to stop Rudy Gobert

Now with the Houston Rockets, Kevin Durant is on a mission to lead a young and talented team to win NBA championships. They were preseason favorites, but have yet to get into a stride.

Now languishing in sixth place in the tightly contested Western Conference, the Rockets need every win they can muster. With the Minnesota Timberwolves in town, Durant and his teammates had to take advantage of the fact that Anthony Edwards was not playing.

The Durantula went to work early, piling on the points as the Wolves scrambled to stay within touching distance. On one play, as the 37-year-old was about to dribble past the three-point line, Wolves center Rudy Gobert poked the ball out.

As the Frenchman gathered the ball and galloped towards the opposite end, Kevin Durant kept tugging at his jersey in an effort to slow him down.

The tactic worked, as no foul was called, and neither could Gobert elevate high enough to avoid the two-time champion’s block. Had the center had his way and finished the score, Durant might have had to face trolls after being on the receiving end of a Rudy Gobert highlight.

Kevin Durant’s 39 points are enough for Rockets to win

Meeting Kendrick Perkins‘ family was the lone bright spot for Kevin Durant after the Oklahoma City Thunder embarrassed his team in front of their fans.

In the game against the Timberwolves, even though Anthony Edwards was not playing, the 15-time All-Star ensured his team was out in front and stayed there.

Durant scored 39 points while grabbing four rebounds and handing out seven assists to his teammates. That contribution was enough to lead his team to a much-needed win.

The Rockets have been struggling to find any bit of consistency, and this stretch of home games is the best way they can get back to the feeling they had in November.
