After Team USA secured their fifth consecutive gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, Kevin Durant set a new record for the most basketball gold medals in Olympic history. The Phoenix Suns star, known for setting and breaking records throughout his career, now holds the title of the men’s basketball player with the most Olympic gold medals.

However, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. And for Durant, he has recently hinted at retiring from the sport any time soon. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, he sat down for an interview with TV One Raising Fame, where he talked about his career and future plans.

As I get older in the league and the league is getting younger, I tend to think about retirement more. [Retirement] creeps in my mind for sure. I honestly don't know what I'll do [when I stop playing]. I have a lot of different interests. I definitely want to stay around the game... That's gonna be a huge, huge transition.

Ever since he was drafted as the second overall pick by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, Durant has come a long way in pro basketball. The 35-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest-ever players of the game. During that time, he won two NBA championships and was named as an NBA All-Star fourteen times. Should he decide to call time on an illustrious career, he will go down as one of the basketball legends.

After Olympics glory, Kevin Durant acquires shares of French soccer club

After Durant and his USA teammates won the gold medal at the Olympic Games last Saturday, the Phoenix Suns star has quickly turned his attention to business. Durant recently bought a minority stake in the French soccer club Paris St. Germain, popularly known as PSG.

The NBA star could be seen in a group photo together with the club’s senior management, as he becomes their latest shareholder. Considering that the 2024 Olympics was hosted in Paris, the 35-year-old could have well started the process while representing his country.

In all fairness, securing business deals and starting other ventures is a path many sports superstars take after their careers. And given the fact that Durant has talked about considering retiring, this could be some of the moves he’s making to secure his future.
