Kevin Durant knows people are still mad at him for joining the Golden State Warriors

Kevin Durant has played for essentially four different teams throughout his NBA career. He has won two championships with one of them even though his interest was to win everywhere he was. This past trade deadline, he was rumored to return to the Golden State Warriors where he won two NBA titles.

He was initially not part of any trade talks as his Phoenix Suns actively tried to bring in Jimmy Butler. When that could not work out, the team received calls asking for their interest in letting go of Durant. Initially they declined.

But then, the Golden State Warriors sent a proposition they could not ignore. The Suns decided to agree to the deal, however, the 15-time All-Star rejected the idea. He did not want to return to the franchise and again start a narrative which has stuck with him ever since he joined them the first time around.

When he was on former teammate Draymond Green‘s podcast earlier, this topic came up. Green and co-host Baron Davis knew it was a sticking point on Durant’s seemingly Hall of Fame career. But unsurprisingly, the man himself does not care.

I’m sure some people are not going to let it go. I wouldn’t say they mad, they still angry about it. But I don’t think they are going to forget that I went to the Warriors. That’s going to always be a talking point when it comes to my career. But I don’t give a s**t.

Draymond Green believes Warriors era involving Kevin Durant was top 3

Baron Davis then added that it was one of the best few years of basketball. He witnessed Kevin Durant at his peak, and he is glad it happened with his former team. Hearing this, Draymond Green chimed in to say.

2015 to 2019 is in my opinion the best era of NBA basketball. It’s somewhere in the top three. You coming to the Warriors elevated it so much to where that’s why it became that.

The near seven-footer joined a 73-9 team, essentially the best regular season team in NBA history. But he joined them after they lost to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in what is considered to be the greatest NBA Finals series ever.

But after he joined, Durant elevated the team to the extent that James asked his team to get him better players. James knew that the 2016-2019 Golden State Warriors was too tough to beat. That team had five future Hall of Famers on that squad.
