It was just a matter of time until the NBA fanbase witnessed another Kevin Durant back-and-forth argument with a fan on social media. Because that’s exactly what happened most lately, as the newest Houston Rockets man was involved in a hilarious exchange with a Suns fan on X. Before securing his deal with the Rockets, it was reported that Durant was visibly frustrated with the Phoenix Suns, his previous side.

Mostly because over the last 1 or 2 years, Durant did not feel much valued by the Suns’ fanbase, as well as the management. It was apparent that the Suns wanted to move on from the NBA veteran, in addition to the fans, as to how they trolled and ridiculed the NBA star in the past.

Durant is someone who does not shy away from speaking his mind, and he did exactly that with a Suns fan recently on X who tried to roast him.

The Suns’ fan used the help of X’s AI ‘GROK’ to roast Durant. The fan wrote on X, @KDTrey5 no way u can clap back at @grok.

Of course this is coming from a sensitive suns fan

To which Kevin Durant responded

The NBA veteran listens to everyone and interacts with anyone who wants to voice their opinions or has a point to make. But this was something different for Durant. Involving AI to throw shade at Durant is something even the NBA star would’ve been surprised by. Given that, Durant’s reply was subtle but powerful. rattling the Suns’ fanbase in the process.

Aside from this, the veteran is now enjoying his offseason by attending music concerts, wedding events, etc, before getting ready for the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season with his new side, the Rockets. Durant will be hoping to contend for the NBA title after watching the Rockets finish as #3rd seed in the West last season.

During his tenure, Durant and the Suns had trouble winning as a team. During his three seasons there, they managed the playoffs two times and only made one appearance in the ECSF. Durant hopes that Houston will be the location where he ends his drought, as he hasn’t participated in a conference finals series since 2019.

Suns GM provided an interesting insight into the Kevin Durant trade deal

Before the Suns ultimately chose to trade Kevin Durant to the Rockets, the deal was widely reported throughout the NBA offseason. So much so that everyone knew the veteran was about to be traded. That said, Brian Gregory, general manager of the Suns, has explained the thinking behind Phoenix’s ultimate Durant trade choice.

We were in contact with Kevin and his team the whole time. The No. 1 goal is to find a way to bring in the valuable pieces that would help us continue to move forward in the right direction.

Brian Gregory told the media

Phoenix thought that the Rockets’ offer was the most effective strategy to get back into the running because they wanted to reorganize their roster around Devin Booker, and the Suns and Durant were heading in different directions. In a few months into the new season, it will be interesting to see who gets the better bargain.

NBA insider shares his honest opinions on the Rockets securing Kevin Durant

Many have controversial opinions when it comes to the Kevin Durant trade deal. Some believe that the Rockets lost two of their good players in Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green, whereas others believe that the Rockets have significantly upgraded in attack after acquiring Durant. It’s safe to say that NBA analyst Tim Bontemps believes the latter of the opinions is right.

Durant being added to the Rockets is a perfect trade, as per the NBA analyst. He will be a huge boost in the shooting sector and add experience to this young Rockets’ roster.

That is an unbelievable upgrade for the Rockets. Big part of why Houston lost in the first round of the playoffs was Jalen Green simply wasn’t good enough as a scorer… under 30% from three, under 40% from the field..

The Rockets were eliminated at the hands of Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors during the NBA Playoffs. The major reason: their lack of experience in shooting in big games. This is exactly where Durant will slot in and add much firepower to the roster going into the new season.
