LeBron James has won four NBA titles in twenty-two seasons in the league. He could have had more had Kevin Durant not joined the Golden State Warriors. His addition changed the basketball landscape and tilted the title haul back towards the West.
In James’ first season back from the Miami Heat, the Cavaliers fell short. In the 2016 Finals, he willed them to come back from a 1-3 deficit to win the first-ever NBA title in the franchise’s history. Many believe it was the finest season of the superstar’s career.
He had defeated a Golden State Warriors team that broke the NBA regular season record, held by Michael Jordan‘s Chicago Bulls for wins and losses. Everyone understood that LeBron James had figured out how to beat the combination of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and HC Steve Kerr.
The following season, they recruited Kevin Durant to join them. That changed the landscape of the NBA, and his addition became too much for James and his Cavaliers. Those defeats led to differences between James and Kyrie Irving, and the latter left before the 2018 title fight.
A season later, James also left for the Los Angeles Lakers. Cavs fans still rue a potential dynastical run for that edition of James’ teams. One of them went on a tirade against Durant while replying to a video showcasing Kyrie Irving highlights.
Oh man, Kevin Durant. F**k you bro for ruining what would have been a dynasty in cleveland.

He pointed the finger at the Slim Reaper for coming in and spoiling the Cleveland Cavaliers’ chances of winning possibly two more NBA titles. Had that happened, maybe James and Irving might not have left, and the franchise would have become a beacon of success.
Kevin Durant has no regret ruining Cavaliers’ dynasty
Kevin Durant faced a lot of heat when he decided to join the same team that beat his Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2016 Western Conference Finals. Despite all the trolling and questions about his legacy, he has no regrets about making that decision, as he replied to that fan.

I rejoice every morning that it didn’t happen

The DC native made it clear that he is glad that the Cleveland Cavaliers’ dynasty did not happen. That would have meant that he would not have two NBA titles and two Finals MVPs to show. Considering it turned out to make him into a future Hall of Famer.

Had none of that happened, and he was still chasing rings, he would have had to deal with much more scrutiny on his status as one of the greatest basketball players ever. Now, even if he does not add another ring before he retires, he is going to see his name in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Durant’s options to win a ring lie with other teams
Kevin Durant is all of 36 years old. He wants to continue fighting for NBA titles at least till the age of 40, if not beyond. But that might not happen with the Phoenix Suns. The franchise endured another miserable season where they could not even reach the play in tournament.
This proves that the roster is not capable of fighting for a title, and wholesale changes might be coming soon. The team has neither the draft picks to bring in reinforcements nor the salary cap to attract top free agents.
The only avenue they can explore is the trade market. Since Bradley Beal is unlikely to waive his no-trade clause, they are stuck with him. Devin Booker is the franchise cornerstone, which means he might not leave.
That leaves them with Durant. They had looked at trade offers from teams such as the Golden State Warriors and the Miami Heat before the deadline. But the superstar declined any possible move. He might not do that this season, with the possibility of other teams with championship aspirations coming into play.
