Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant sends three-word message to Nike after snub from star-studded Olympics campaign

Nike is no doubt in a class of their own right now. With the Olympics around the corner, they are in the perfect position to continue their dominance as the most popular sports apparel company in the world. Their sponsorship of the USA Olympics effort means every athlete representing America will wear Nike. To celebrate the upcoming global celebration of sports, they released a hype video. But Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant noticed something about it.

The video showed a plethora of athletes who were at the top of their game, going through their motions. The video featured the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Victor Wembanyama and A’ja Wilson. All of these athletes are superstars who are exclusively Nike athletes.

Nike, tell me, Am I a bad person?????
Kevin Durant wrote on Instagram Stories

He used a photo of himself in Team USA Basketball gear in the background to this question, asking them if he was bad enough to not be included in this video. He used the same question Nike used in the video back at them. The company used it to suggest that winning does not make a person bad. Therefore, Kevin Durant wanted to know if he was a bad person to not be a part of that video. After all, he has been a signature Nike athlete for almost the entirety of his career.

Last season he became the 3rd ever NBA player to sign a lifetime contract with the apparel giant. On top of that, he is about to represent the USA for the 4th time. All of these credentials should have landed him in the video. This is the 2nd controversy Nike has created with the Olympics squad in recent days.

Kevin Durant can become the most decorated Olympic men’s basketball athlete

Kevin Durant represented Team USA in each of the past three Olympics. In all of them, he won gold medals. Right now, he is 2nd in the list of most decorated US Olympic men’s basketball players with 3 golds. Above him is Carmelo Anthony with 3 golds and 1 bronze. LeBron James is the only other player who can match that tally if he wins gold this time.

But in the same breath, Durant will also win the gold. The 4th gold medal will place Kevin Durant above both Anthony and current Team USA teammate, James. Ensuring he will be for at least quite some time, the most decorated Olympian in men’s basketball.

No other player currently on the team has an Olympic medal other than Durant and James, which means, it will be quite a while before any one of this year’s medalists can catch up to the Phoenix Suns superstar. This will only add to the legacy the Slim Reaper has established in all these years of playing basketball.
