- Kevin Durant dismissed rumors of running a burner account, stating he is "not here to get into Twitter nonsense."
- He did not directly refute the allegations, which may fuel speculation about his involvement.
- Former player Gilbert Arenas believes Durant would not need a burner account to express his opinions publicly.
Kevin Durant has seemingly taken up the mantle of being the most vocal opponent on social media whenever fans go on their usual critical rants.
He is not afraid to drag some of them into ranting even more than usual, and every time the Slim Reaper is there with a reply, ready with a fact or statement, if needed.
However, something else came to the fore regarding the 16-time All-Star that has seemingly rattled the basketball world. When the Houston Chronicle’s Varun Shankar asked the superstar about it, he replied:
I know you are going to ask me these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense.

The two-time champion seemingly snapped at the reporter for asking about the recent rumor that Kevin Durant was essentially running a burner account on the social media platform X.

The rumors allege that the 6′ 11″ forward was dissing his current and former teammates with various anecdotes that pointed towards incidents that potentially led to discontent with them.
It is not uncommon for some NBA superstars to run burner accounts just to get at someone. Kevin Durant’s mentee, Anthony Edwards, was recently rumored to have been running one.
The manner in which he responded effectively shuts down the possibility of journalists asking him about it. At the same time, he did not refute it. This could potentially fuel those rumors of him running a burner account.
Ex-All-Star does not believe Kevin Durant ran burner account
Even though half the world wants to believe that Kevin Durant is responsible for creating a burner account and revealing his true feelings about his teammates, a former player does not think that is the case.

The evidence is piling up off of that?… Why would he get on a burner account to say he won’t pass me the ball? Obviously, that is not him. Somebody is trying to pretend it’s him to talk in first person…. This is what media has came to, huh?
Gilbert Arenas said on his namesake show
The three-time All-Star pointed out how creating such an account, only to reveal things off his chest in first person, is the obvious giveaway that it is not the Houston Rockets superstar.

That is because Durant already has a proper X account, through which he has never shied away from saying what he wants. Naturally, most of his activity there is directed at fans and trolls.
But Gilbert Arenas believes that if the two-time NBA Finals MVP wanted to say what he wanted, he could have done so with his original account, without having to create a burner that has enough evidence of being created to mimic his tone.
Kevin Durant opines about All-Star competitiveness
Now that the All-Star weekend is over, Kevin Durant and his Houston Rockets teammates are back going through their motions with the second half of the season in front of them.
During this media session, Rockets Wire journalist Big Sarge asked the Paris Olympics gold medalist if his motivational words pushed his All-Star teammates to compete this year.
I wouldn’t say that. I think guys were just sick of hearing that narrative around that topic. We wanted to show that we care about the game.
Kevin Durant replied
The DC native pointed out how the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham, and even LeBron James set the tone this year.
“I think guys were just sick of hearing that narrative around that topic,” said Kevin Durant when I asked if his being competitive comments before the All-Star break fueled the battle for the games. “We wanted to show that we care about the game.” #Rockets #Sarge @TheRocketsWire pic.twitter.com/6fIpigTyIj

That is what drew everyone else towards putting on a show for the fans. Invariably, it turned out to be the best All-Star game of the last 15 years, as the league managed to draw 8.8 million viewers.
