Kevin Durant to team up with Steph Curry again in Golden State? Major shakeup in NBA expected courtesy of Jimmy Butler
As the NBA trade market deadline approaches, the possibility of Kevin Durant re-uniting with Stephen Curry isn't ruled out.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry
Just when the NBA world seems to be processing the blockbuster Luka Doncic to Los Angeles Lakers trade deal, another possible blockbuster deal pops up. A trade deal involving Jimmy Butler, and Kevin Durant is on the cards but with a twist. Durant may be acquired by the Golden State Warriors before the NBA Trade Deadline.
As the Phoenix Suns are adamant about acquiring Butler from the Miami Heat, rumors over Durant’s future with the team have begun to intensify. Bradley Beal was originally going to be traded by the Suns. They are unable to include Beal in a possible deal, though, because of his no-trade clause. As per insider Jake Fischer, Durant to the Warriors is a ‘serious possibility.’

In addition, the Heat have no interest in acquiring Beal and his $50 million contract. Durant, another Suns star, consequently became the focal point of the trade talks. The Warriors are keen to assist the Suns in completing the deal, and the 6-foot-11 star has already earned $51 million this season.
Durant has yet to respond to the rumors. To find a standout partner to complement Curry, the Warriors have searched every team. Sam Amick of The Athletic claims that the Warriors were given an exorbitant sum in exchange for the 15-time All-Star. The Suns requested “essentially everything of future value,” according to Amick.
NBA insider claims Draymond Green is also ‘on the table’ regarding Kevin Durant-Warriors trade
NBA insider Brian Windhorst claimed on “Get Up” that the Warriors are actively negotiating trades. These are for players like Jimmy Butler and Kevin Durant. This implies that Draymond Green, the backbone of the Warriors’ defense, might be traded. Also, if doing so would result in the return of a player of the highest level to play with Steph Curry.
If “everything’s on the table” other than Steph Curry as @WindhorstESPN reports here, then “everything “ means Draymond Green is also on the table.

And if Draymond is movable, his $24M salary opens A LOT of creative options for the Warriors.

The Warriors signed 33-year-old Draymond Green to a four-year, $100 million contract extension in 2023. This contract extends until the 2026–2027 season, with a $27.5 million player option in the final year. Yet, he is now a possible trade option because of his on-court difficulties and diminishing offensive impact. It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds in the final days of the trade market.
