Warriors lined up aggressive deal to reunite Kevin Durant with Steph Curry

The NBA trade deadline was surely one of the most exciting in sports history. A total of nine prime All-Stars moved teams along with a plethora of other players to completely change the landscape of the NBA. Kevin Durant moving could have made it ten All-Stars.

During the offseason, the Houston Rockets were seemingly stockpiling draft picks to tempt the Phoenix Suns into giving up their leading superstar. However, the team was all in on their goal to win their first ever NBA title and reiterated their desire to hold on to their Big 3.

Fast forward to these past few days and their resolve was tested when the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves started calling them for their 15-time All-Star. Kevin Durant never wanted this to be a topic this season. He has never requested a trade out of Phoenix. The fact his name was involved in any conversation, that is something obviously both sides are going to have to work through the second half of the season.

Host of NBA Today Malika Andrews added that after all that Kevin Durant remains with the Suns. Therefore, the organization and their leading superstar will need to work on their trust. Else there is a chance their season may blow out of proportion.

Warriors and Heat made aggressive offers for Kevin Durant

The Phoenix Suns started looking into the possibility of trading Kevin Durant after the Golden State Warriors called them. As they were not interested initially, the franchise had to propose a trade lucrative enough to change their mind. Shams Charania details how massive the proposal was.

The Warriors made several aggressive offers, including one framework I’m told in a three way that would have sent Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, 1st round pick, 2nd round picks and swaps to the Phoenix Suns.

The ESPN insider reported that the team offered the most aggressive trade package for the 36-year-old. Other than that, the Minnesota Timberwolves had an offer ready as well as the Miami Heat. The Heat were one of the first teams to discuss a trade for Durant during their discussions surrounding Jimmy Butler.

Since Bradley Beal was not ready to waive his no-trade clause, the Heat asked for Durant. But apparently the Suns hierarchy did not like the offer and declined. So far, the Warriors package was the best, but the DC native made it clear he would not reunite with Steph Curry, blowing any chances of a move.
