“Called Lebron washed” – Former NBA Champion BIZARRELY comparing LeBron James to Celtics’ Shaquille O’Neal has fans going wild
Former NBA MVP Kevin Garnett compares Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James to Boston Celtics Shaquille O'Neal.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is playing at All-NBA level unlike to Boston Celtics Shaquille O'Neal
LeBron James would be great on any team. Even at the ripe age of 39, the superstar’s ability to read the game and manage it can bring success to any team. Just ask the other national teams participating in the Paris Olympics.
That reputation led former NBA champion Kevin Garnett to compare the Los Angeles Lakers superstar to Shaquille O’Neal. It was not a straight comparison. Rather, Garnett had a logic behind it when he said this on the show, KG Certified, hosted by All the Smoke Productions.
The Lakers had a trade on the table to send LeBron to Golden State. They wanted Kuminga from Bron. We played with Shaq. Shaq was older, but he was still looked at as Shaq. If he don’t get hurt, we win. He did enough for us, his presence. It don’t even matter, it’s the effect of Bron. If he can still lay the ball up, if he can still be in the layup line, if he can still put the jersey on, It’s always active.Kevin Garnett said
This was an interestingly bizarre take by the former champion. He believes LeBron James can contribute despite his age just like Shaquille O’Neal did with the Boston Celtics. But it seems Kevin Garnett forgot that the current version of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is nothing like what the Big Aristotle was in his final year. O’Neal was a shell of his former all-dominating self, struggling to score 10 points a game and being forced to retire.
In contrast, LeBron James is still playing at an elite level as his Paris Olympics MVP proves. Last year he made it to his 20th straight All-NBA team. This is a stark contrast to what O’Neal managed to do in the latter stages of his career.
Fans remind Kevin Garnett who LeBron James is
Fans of the game took note of this bizarre comparison. They also felt that Kevin Garnett did not understand the comparison. He probably only took the age and experience into consideration before coming up with that take. They were livid and proceeded to remind the former league MVP what LeBron James is. Especially compared to Celtics’ O’Neal.
They took to social media to comment on the video of Garnett explaining his views. Check out some of those reactions below:
Only LeBron James knows how long he will continue playing in the NBA. But knowing the competitor he is, fans can expect him to stop before he becomes a shell of himself. No one would want the 4-time champion to retire at a low point.
