Kevin Garnett’s prediction for Kevin Durant’s Phoenix Suns comes true

Kevin Garnett correctly predicted that Tyus Jones is the player the Phoenix Suns needed

The Phoenix Suns are in red-hot form as they find themselves sharing the top spot of the hotly contested Western Conference standings with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This wasn’t the case last season and it led Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett to predict what the Suns needed to fix their woes.

Kevin Garnett during a past episode of his podcast “KG Certified,” suggested that the Suns acquire Tyus Jones from the Washington Wizards. Jones’ ball-handling and playmaking were the factors that according to KG made him a must-have by the Suns.

You know who Phoenix need to go get? Tyus Jones… They need a point guard, bro. That’s why that shit look like that, bro. They need a real point guard.

And rightly predicted, Jones has been effective in his early start to his Suns’ career. He has cemented his place on their starting five and has averaged 9.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists already.

He looks like the real deal, and maybe the missing piece of the puzzle if the Suns are hoping to avoid last season’s disasterclass at the hands of the Timberwolves. His most recent game against the Mavericks was also a testament to what he brings to the team as he came up with 17 points, which was good enough to seal the controversial win.

Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns off to blazing 8-1 start

This season, the Phoenix Suns have quickly silenced their doubters with a scorching 8-1 start, tied for best in the West with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Under new coach Mike Budenholzer, the Suns have transformed their identity, as they’ve shot more three-pointers (39.4 per game) and converted at a top-ten rate (38.3%).

Also, the addition of Tyus Jones has been instrumental, as he has brought much-needed stability as a legitimate point guard. Jones’ exceptional assist-to-turnover ratio has organized the Suns’ offense, reduced turnovers and fostered careful possessions.

Furthermore, with Jones at the helm, Kevin Durant is thriving at MVP levels, while Devin Booker’s workload has been alleviated. And as the season unfolds, the Suns will face continued scrutiny, but for now, they are undoubtedly “for real.”
