Kevin Garnett trashes Joel Embiid

NBA star Joel Embiid has faced criticism a lot lately due to his failure to be fit for a whole NBA season. Embiid is one of the best centers in the NBA, alongside Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic when fully fit. He often gets MVP shouts due to his immense performances for the Philadelphia 76ers. However, injuries seem to take a toll on him. NBA legend Kevin Garnett shared his harsh take on Embiid.

On ‘KG Certified,’ Kevin Garnett was unreserved in his criticism of the 76ers player when speaking with his podcast co-host Paul Pierce. Garnett chastised Embiid for his standards after saying he would no longer play back-to-back games. This did not go down well with the NBA legend, stating that ‘he does not want to hear this anymore.’

82 games, man, this is what the fu***** job calls for. You’re not practicing, you’re not playing in the summer. I understand if you playing in the summer… that’s when you get rest. Don’t want to hear this sh*t. I don’t want to hear none of this sh*t. Motherf*****s can sit out in back-to-backs? We done with the comparisons of the eras sh*t.

He is the first player in history to publicly discuss the decision. Given that, these statements have drawn strong criticism from both players and fans. Hence, it remains to be seen now how Embiid will perform throughout the 2024-25 NBA season.

Joel Embiid once made a bold assertion regarding ‘GOAT’ conversation

Joel Embiid has established himself as one of the NBA’s top centers in recent years. Embiid was attracting much attention from the NBA community due to his statistically impressive performances. During the previous season, Joel Embiid averaged 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 52.9%.

The 76ers superstar was on track to win MVP for the second consecutive year. But he was sidelined for months due to an injury sustained in the middle of the season. However, Embiid recently declared that, if it weren’t for his injuries, he would be in “GOAT Conversations.”

I think so. I think I’m that talented. Obviously you need to win championships, and to win championships you need other guys. You can’t do it by yourself. I want to win so bad.

Embiid’s career has been marred by injuries since he joined the NBA in 2014. Due to a foot injury, he missed his first two seasons entirely and hasn’t yet played in excess of 70 games in a season. Despite these problems, Embiid’s talent is undeniable. It will be intriguing to see how Embiid prioritizes his fitness and health during the 2024–25 NBA season.
