“You’re no stranger to public warfare!” Kevin Hart gives Bronny James advice amidst constant nepotism criticism
Bronny James' first 3 Summer League games showed the pressure was getting to him.
Kevin Hart gives friend LeBron James' son and Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James advice amidst constant nepotism criticism
The Bronny James nepotism criticism noise is not dying down anytime soon. It will go on until and unless he proves that he is worthy of being a player for the Los Angeles Lakers. More importantly, to squash the noise that he is on the team just because of his father, LeBron James‘ presence. However, a friend of the family and actor Kevin Hart had some advice for the 19-year-old.
The actor/comedian and a fan of the game was speaking with Taylor Rooks on the Bleacher Report’s talk show Taylor Rooks X. The host asked Hart about Bronny James. Hart said people want a story about a bad guy rather than a heartwarming story about a good guy. As such, he advised the young Lakers star on dealing with constant criticism.
You're no stranger to public warfare...The conversations are the job (of critics), there's no ill will, no malice. Step 1, grab that mindset. Step 2. 'I'm actually playing the game that I love'. When it comes to nepotism, there's a lot of ignorance attached to that. Why would Bron not want his child to succeed. But It’s your job to do the work.Kevin Hart via Taylor Rooks X on Bleacher Report
Hart was clear that criticisms of nepotism are uncalled for. After all, which father would not want their child to succeed. He gave his own daughter’s example as someone who wants to explore the creative world. So, as her father, Kevin Hart will do everything to ensure she has the platform to be successful. LeBron James is essentially doing the same thing. So would other parents if it was their child instead of James Jr.
All Kevin Hart wants Bronny James to do is to have the mindset that criticisms will always be thrown in his direction. That is just how it will be coming into the league on the same team as his father. Accept it and work on his game so that he can one day create his own legacy.
Bronny James has one more game left to finish well
Bronny James lost his first 3 Summer League games. Now, he and the Los Angeles Lakers have won 2 in a row after tonight’s excellent comeback win. In both games, the 19-year-old’s uptick in performance has been one of the reasons for the wins. In the last game, he also broke his three-point duck. In tonight’s game, he played all facets of the game well.
It has prompted everyone to acknowledge that the rookie has broken through in terms of confidence. He also seems to have eased off on the pressure of being LeBron James’ son. That was evident as he did not bring back his lip-biting facial expressions, which were ever so prominent in the first few games. It tells a sign of nervousness.
Rather, he was focused on how the team played and looking for cracks in the opponent’s game. He used that knowledge to improve his Summer League stats. If he can finish well in the final game, the critics should back off from all the nepotism talk. As Kevin Hart said, he needs to work hard to block that noise out. It seems he is starting to do that.
