“Don’t claim to have that heart if you ain’t got it,” Kevin Holland thrashes Khamzat Chimaev for pulling out from the fight again
COVID-19 has taken his toll at everyone around the world, in America alone it has killed over 500,000 people and the pandemic isn’t over yet, even after the development of vaccine.
Many UFC fighters were affected by it too, and one such case was of Khamzat Chimaev. He was on a roll from his debut, he fought three fights and defeated them rather easily.
Khamzat hype train was rolling hard until he got caught up by the virus, he was scheduled to face Leon Edwards and he had to pull out twice because of his illness, and now Belal Muhammad has replaced him and Kevin Holland had some things to say about Khamzat.
Holland was also tested positive for COVID-19 but he recovered in just 7 days and called Khamzat out for being overly dramatic and pulling out from the fight twice, he said, “You sit up here and say it’s sad ‘cause he has COVID and sh*t like that, but they said I had COVID and we’re supposed to be athletes, and it’s like, get the f*ck over it.”
“My girl had it pretty good and I was f*cking her the whole time. So, it’s like we all take it different. Different fighters, different heart. Don’t claim to have that heart if you ain’t got it.”
Kevin Holland respects Khamzat for what he has done but he thinks he is picking up easy fights
Kevin Holland also added that what Khamzat has achieved is admirable but he wanted to see him compete against a tough opponent, he said, “He’s bouncing back and forth to the fights that make the most sense. So he’ll go to ‘70 for a fight that makes sense, he’ll come back up to ‘85 for a fight that makes sense.”
“Nothing wrong with it, good management. Fighters who fight like that, very smart fighters, I tip my hat off to them, them and their management and their coaches, that’s great. That’s not me, I’ll never be that, so props to those guys,”
“Smart, smart fighter. Props to him. But what happens when you can’t go out there and take an easy, smart route. What happens when a fighter’s really f*cking good? That’s why I wanted to see the Leon fight. I want to see tough competition.”
