The number 10th ranked UFC Middleweight fighter Kevin Holland’s five fights win streak is halted by Derek Brunson in the main event of UFC Vegas 22. This was Holland’s first appearance inside the Octagon in 2021 and he faced a loss.
‘Trailblazer’ is the king of trash talk and he made a name for himself in 2020 by winning five consecutive fights that too in just seven months. But Brunson showed an absolutely dominating performance in the fight.
Derek Brunson took him down on the ground multiple times and controlled Holland throughout the fight. In all five rounds, Brunson had great ground control time.
Holland also tried to make way by his trash talk while in the fight but even this didn’t affect Brunson. After five rounds he won the fight by unanimous decision of the judges.
This was considered Holland’s first major test after knocking out Ronaldo Souza and it is going to be interested to see how he will bounce back from this loss.
Dana White comments on Holland’s performance
The UFC president Dana White was sitting beside the Octagon throughout the fight and after Kevin Holland loss in his interview with Yahoo Sports, Dana White comments on his performance.
White says, “I think that was a mental breakdown, the only other thing I saw like it was in boxing when Lennox Lewis fought that guy Oliver McCall who kept his hands at his side and was crying.”
“I don’t know what he was doing. I think he might not have been able to handle the pressure and just broke mentally. I haven’t seen anything like that.”
Along with White a lot of UFC fighters also talked about Holland’s irresponsible approach towards the fight and not fighting seriously. What are your views on Kevin Holland loss.
