It seems as if a day in and day out there’s some type of news in regards to the UFC lightweight division. Kevin Lee decided to unholster his thoughts today with Tom Taylor. Unveiling opinions on the state of the UFC lightweight division, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement, and even future potential opponents.

With Kevin Lee’s recent loss to Charles Oliveira, he finds himself far from a title shot. Still eager to climb the lightweight rankings, he spoke on behalf of the current belt situation. Mentioning he believes Khabib should retire, and allow the division to move on. Although it’s his entitled opinion, top lightweight title contenders like Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, and Michael Chandler may be united in thought.

“Let us keep working. Let somebody else hold that belt for a little bit”

“I think the man should go ahead and retire. (The UFC) should let him retire, let him enjoy himself, and let him take his mind off the sport. Dana has said this before — once a guy starts talking about retirement, this isn’t a sport you want to stick around with. You should go ahead and do it and let the division go on,” Lee said about Nurmagomedov.

With Kevin awaiting to avenge his loss and get back into the octagon, he made it very clear who he wants next. He’ll settle for no one less than the one and only, Tony Ferguson. After losing by submission in the 3rd round in their first bout back in 2017, revenge seems to be weighing heavily on Kevin’s brain. Who will Kevin face next in his attempt to climb from his 12th ranked spot in the UFC lightweight rankings?
