Kevin Love’s out-of-pocket ‘Black History Month’ reaction to Mac McClung’s dunk contest domination goes viral
Kevin Love had a hilarious response to Mac McClung's historic three-peat victory in the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest.

Kevin Love trolls Mac McClung after Dunk Contest win
Kevin Love’s basketball career is definitely Hall of Fame worthy. However, his social media trolling game might just be better, and that’s saying something, given that he was one of the best players in the league in his prime. After Mac McClung’s historic three-peat victory at the Dunk Contest on NBA All-Star Saturday, Love shared a hilarious reaction which had everyone doing a double take online.
McClung defeated a pool of rising stars at the Dunk Contest, winning over Stephon Castle, Matas Buzelis and Andre Jackson Jr. However, after his victory at the Chase Center, Kevin Love hilariously noted the irony of the NBA bringing McClung back from the G-League every season to dominate in the Dunk Contest, especially during Black History Month.
A great way to fix All-Star Weekend’s Saturday Night – let the overwhelming majority of the NBA know that Mac McClung has won 3 straight dunk contests during Black History Month.

The post immediately caught fire, racking up over 45,000 likes and nearly 4,000 reposts, as fans and fellow players reacted to Love’s elite troll game. While he normally reserved his trolling for his Instagram account, he brought some of his ‘spicy Love takes’ to X as well, prompting a reply from former teammate Channing Frye. But Kevin Love always has a joke up his sleeve and he showcased it again.

As for McClung, he continues to prove that there may have been no greater lie in history than ‘White Men Can’t Dunk.’ His win on Saturday secured his third straight Dunk Contest victory, which marks a record three-peat for him. While his dunks are probably the only thing keeping the Dunk Contest alive, Love’s reaction to it reinforced his reputation as one of the NBA’s best social media personalities.
Kevin Love hilariously trolls Andre Jackson Jr.’s dunk contest performance
While Kevin Love’s first post was enough to send fans on X into a hilarious frenzy, his night hadn’t ended yet. While many fans were focused on Mac McClung’s perfect night, the Heat forward took another playful jab, this time at Milwaukee Bucks rookie Andre Jackson Jr. After seeing Ja Morant tweet about how McClung’s performance made him want to finally enter the dunk contest, Love seized the moment.
I feel the same after watching Andre Jackson dunk.

Jackson, a 6’6” forward, was one of the dark horses in the field this year leading up to the Slam Dunk Contest. However, his performance didn’t quite live up to expectations, and Kevin Love did not let the moment pass without getting off his jokes.
Andre Jackson had struggled during his attempts. He was eliminated in the first round after posting a combined score of 88.8 on two dunks, barely edging out Matas Buzelis’ 87.4, the lowest total of the night. In contrast, McClung made history with four straight perfect 50s, sealing his third consecutive title and further cementing his legacy as one of the best dunk contest performers ever.
