It’s no exaggeration to say Hulk Hogan revolutionized professional wrestling. Just as Babe Ruth transformed baseball, ‘The Hulkster’ became the face of sports entertainment, playing a pivotal role in Vince McMahon’s push to bring wrestling into the mainstream spotlight. His recent passing at age 71 due to cardiac arrest has left a profound void in the wrestling world. But Hogan’s impact wasn’t limited to WWE.

The Hall of Famer also played a major role in shaping WCW’s legacy, where he became a key figure in the company’s rise during the Monday Night Wars. One of his most notorious partners in that era of chaos? None other than Kevin Nash, with whom Hogan and Scott Hall established ‘The nWo‘. And in segment #160 of his ‘Kliq This’ podcast, the ‘Big Daddy Cool’ opened up on the death of his beloved stablemate.

They always called him ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan, and to me, man, it was just like— even when I heard what Bubba [Bubba the Love Sponge] was saying, I just knew he’d kick out. I just knew. I knew I’d get on the phone with him.

The erstwhile Diesel admitted that he couldn’t believe that Hulk Hogan was gone. Moreover, the former WWE Champion even considered embarking on a two-hour drive to Hogan’s home in Florida to see him for the last time.

Two weeks ago, if I’d made the drive out there, if somebody had told me what kind of condition [he was in], I wouldn’t have needed five minutes. After four minutes of putting each other over, I would have just said: ‘I love you.’ Thanks for the rub.

Nash’s admission of not knowing about Hogan’s death seems strange, as Bubba recently claimed that the Hulkster’s close friends like Eric Bischoff and Jimmy Hart were already aware of his condition but hid the truth from the public eye.

In closing his tribute, Nash addressed the critics and online detractors who continued to downplay Hogan’s legacy, even after his passing. While ‘The Hulkster’ faced his share of controversies over the years, ‘Big Daddy Cool’ stood firmly by his longtime friend. He urged people to show compassion, emphasizing that Hogan was gone now and that his family deserves peace and privacy during this difficult time.

For the people who want to go after Hogan for doing this or that—You know what? How about f*** you, man. He’s dead. How about his kids, man? Can you just lay off the man? Ain’t nothing going to change now. Think about his kids. Think about his friends and his family, and if you don’t have anything good to say—Shut the f*** up.

Nash and Hogan are two cornerstones of professional wrestling. As the original two members of the nWo, they changed the game, especially when Hogan shocked the world by turning heel for the first time at Bash at the Beach in 1996. Amid the many heartfelt tributes pouring in after Hogan’s passing, Ric Flair offered a sobering reflection on what may have led to his longtime friend’s death.

Ric Flair weighs in on the possible reason for Hulk Hogan’s demise at 71

Flair was to WCW in the late ’80s what Hogan was to WWE, both legendary in their own right. But when Hogan made the jump to WCW in 1994, it brought two of the greatest to ever do it under the same roof for a memorable run. Though they were fierce rivals at times, Flair always had deep respect for Hogan and everything he contributed to the business.

Speaking recently on The Ariel Helwani Show, the 16-time World Champion opened up about what he believes may have contributed to Hogan’s tragic passing. Flair opened up about Hogan’s final days, reflecting on the heavy toll wrestling had taken on his body over the years.

I think he just got tired. I mean, 11 back operations, hip replacements, and now a neck surgery. I mean, how much can your body take, you know? We’ve all put ourselves in ridiculous positions in the business.

He shared that he had spoken with Jimmy Hart just a day before Hogan’s passing and saw no signs that anything was wrong. Flair further went on to praise Hogan not only as a wrestling icon but also as a generous man and “the biggest star in the history of the business.”

It’s been a tough stretch for the wrestling world, especially with legends like Flair facing their own battles. ‘The Nature Boy’ was diagnosed with skin cancer and has endured several near-death experiences over the past eight years. Despite the challenges, Flair recently shared some uplifting news: he’s now cancer-free and feeling better than ever.
