It was an absolute nightmare of an evening for Randy Orton at Crown Jewel. Kevin Owens smacked him with a steel chair before the match even began. Demented by heartbreak, The Prizefighter thought that it was his best foot forward. He even took out the match referee, Eddie Orengo, let alone backstage producers. GMs Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce had to intervene only for The Viper to RKO Pearce.

The bell hadn’t rung, so the two superstars went out fighting in the crowd. In there, Kevin gained hold of a roadcase, so he bounced it off Orton’s head three times. Kevin wasn’t done as he placed Randy on a table and dropped his elbow on The Apex Predator from at least a few inches high. Orton was out cold, with medical personnel rushing towards him.

One would believe that this was coming one way or the other. The budding differences between these two had been simmering for weeks. Owens went deranged after being sucker punched by Randy on SmackDown. As an act of retaliation, he laid out The Apex Predator backstage.

Owing to Kevin’s unhinged actions, General Manager Nick Aldis had told him to stay home. However, that wasn’t going to sit well with The Viper, who was gunning for revenge on his former tag team partner. That left Orton with no choice but to summon WWE CCO Triple H on SmackDown.

Randy looked into the eyes of his ex-Evolution stablemate and asked to sanction his proposed match with Owens at Crown Jewel. However, Hunter was reluctant to begin with. He claimed it wasn’t a good. In fact, he even told Orton that he was protecting him from The Prizefighter rather than being the other way around.

WWE fans aghast by Kevin Owens’ callous beatdown of Randy Orton

The instant reactions to Kevin Owens taking down Randy Orton for good at Crown Jewel are mostly positive. The fans on social media seemed charged up with that pre-match brawl, with one saying that heel KO is just perfect.

Also, fans are already daydreaming of a Last Man Standing Match between them at Survivor Series later this month. Some trolls came hard at Triple H for shredding down this match into a good’ol fashioned skirmish to avoid a 7-match PLE card.

Apart from that, some even wished Owens and Orton would’ve gone on a bit longer than they did. A fan predicted the endgame of Kevin’s recent character shift, saying it’d lead him to world title glory against Cody Rhodes down the road.
