The latest episode of SmackDown featured Kevin Owens coming down to the ring and cutting an intense promo. Besides hyping up his upcoming match at Money in the Bank, he revealed some gut-wrenching information and personal issues that he was struggling with.
Kevin Owens said that he got a call from his father on Monday morning, informing him that his mom had been rushed to the hospital. Hearing this, he immediately jumped on a flight to Quebec, where he had spent his entire week alongside his family, watching his mother fight her illness. He also mentioned that she was admitted to the same hospital where she gave birth to him.
Despite the show being in his home country, his parents weren’t there to watch him. Furthermore, they wouldn’t be there to watch him on Saturday either. The Prizefighter said that he could’ve missed SmackDown and stayed home with his family without ruffling any feathers backstage. However, doing so would have upset his mom, who wanted him to live out his career as a professional wrestler.
The 40-year-old will join Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton on Saturday to face The Bloodline at the Money in the Bank PLE. It is unclear what his mindset will be heading into this match considering his current family situation.
Kevin Owens asserts his mother was his biggest supporter in his professional wrestling journey
Kevin Owens talked about how his mother had supported his dream of becoming a professional wrestler since he was 11 years old. He discovered WWE and professional wrestling before even becoming a teenager. His parents did everything to ensure that their son would one day get to WWE and realize his dream.
The former Universal Champion’s mother always told him to fight like hell for his dreams. She wanted him to leave his all every time he stepped into the ring. Hence, he could not miss a show even in the midst of a family emergency. His family’s support is partly why Owens himself was elated to see his son step into a professional wrestling ring for the first time.
The formerly known Kevin Steen then sent a warning to his rivals. While addressing the Bloodline directly, he claimed to be more serious than he ever had. Regardless of the result of their match, all he cared about was doing what his mom wanted him to. This included not just beating down the bloodline, but obliterating them worse than they ever had been before.
