“There was something wrong,” Kevin Owens reveals how exactly he jarred his neck after backing out of WrestleMania 41
The shocking injury announcement by Kevin Owens left the WWE Universe in low spirits after SmackDown. He's now out of WrestleMania.

In a heartbreaking revelation on this week’s SmackDown, Kevin Owens declared that he’s been dealing with a neck injury for the last four months. He’d go on to announce that he’s no longer cleared to wrestle Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 due to impending surgery. The morning after SmackDown, The Prizefighter joined Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement.
During the conversation, the now-injured WWE star went into the details. Back in December, the Canuck went through a full-body MRI, and everything was normal but his knees, which weren’t really a concern for the 40-year-old. The medics at WWE relayed to him that even though he does have a degree of stenosis, which isn’t abnormal for pro wrestlers, Owens was otherwise fine.
But in January, in a regular match, Kevin had his neck jarred. The Prizefighter described having bothered his neck via a couple of basic wrestling moves that he’s pulled off a million times in his 25-year-long career. However, at the time, the issue couldn’t be diagnosed until this week.
Kevin Owens shares that a regular match in January this year [not the Ladder Match] was what ‘did it’ for him to have to go get neck surgery.

…….In January I had a match, in the match 2 things happened that really jarred my neck, and that’s when the issues started, so I knew there was something wrong……..

The Quebec-born grappler also affirmed that neither of his brutal matches with Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble nor Sami Zayn at the Elimination Chamber discomforted his neck by any stretch. For the unversed, both of those showdowns were infested with hardcore spots.
While Kevin didn’t reveal what match he got hurt in, it shows that even the simplest of bumps could turn out to be the most detrimental at times. As he claimed during his emotional promo on SmackDown, Owens doesn’t have a timeline on his in-ring return. However, the former Universal Champion vowed to never take things for granted in life.
Now scrapped, Kevin Owens’ WrestleMania feud with Randy Orton was long-term booking
The eventual Kevin Owens feud with Randy Orton that was supposed to culminate at WrestleMania 41 was months-in-the-making. Owens and Orton were blooming as a tag team last year, and their on-screen friendship was infectious. With the introduction of Cody Rhodes, the former best friends started experiencing troubles in getting along.

The Canadian Dream finally snapped at Randy when the latter ultimately sided with Rhodes without even understanding where Owens was coming from. It’s something that Kevin felt sparked the rift between the two. In November, KO put the 45-year-old veteran on the shelf after piledriving him.
Orton was sidelined for months until he returned at Elimination Chamber in February. Owens had just beaten Sami Zayn in a brutal Unsanctioned match and was looking to do more damage. However, Randy’s music hit, and he made a beeline for his arch-nemesis.
In the following weeks, Orton and Owens would play cat and mouse with each other. But little did anyone know that Kevin would have to back out of WrestleMania the way he did. As Owens himself mentioned above, neither he nor WWE found out about his neck injury until about a few days ago.
With Kevin Owens out, is Nick Aldis the new victim of Randy Orton?
After learning that he was left with nothing to do at WrestleMania, Randy Orton planted the SmackDown GM Nick Nick Aldis with an RKO. Since then, it’s been speculated that the 38-year-old might step up to The Legend Killer at The Showcase of the Immortals.

For the unversed, the Brit is a multi-time World Champion across TNA, NWA, and several other independent promotions. Nick is relatively younger than Orton and in no way out of shape to wrestle again. Although he did undergo an arm surgery last year in March, he seems to have recovered from it.

Aldis would never get a more prominent spot to make his WrestleMania debut than going against the 14-time WWE Champion. However, if Aldis isn’t cleared somehow, he could definitely bring someone in as Kevin Owens’ replacement for The Apex Predator. Names like Rusev and Aleister Black are expected to return to WWE imminently in case Mr. Aldis needs them.
