After losing the Triple Threat match at WrestleMania XL, Kevin Owens shifted his focus to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He delivered a promo backstage, talking about how the world title was the only thing he ever cared about. However, during his promo, he took a subtle dig at CM Punk.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, Kevin Owens was slated to fight Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles in a Triple Threat match. Before the match, he cut a promo backstage where he stated how he missed having a belt over his shoulder. While walking, his eyes fixated on the Detroit Tigers’ belt. He took the belt and knocked CM Punk‘s shirt off the table.
The history is interesting between the two superstars, as when Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames, Owens wasn’t very thrilled. Although they both were in the same ring when they celebrated Cody Rhodes‘s win at WrestleMania XL, they haven’t engaged in a verbal interaction yet. Owens and Punk have maintained a safe difference while being on different brands.
Unfortunately for the 39-year-old star, he was unable to grab the opportunity to fight Rhodes for the title, as Styles picked up the victory with an amazing Styles Clash. Meanwhile, for The Second City Saint, fans can expect him to return soon after witnessing the events that transpired at WrestleMania XL. It will be a sight to behold when these two share a ring with each other.

Owens made an appearance on Busted Open podcast and expressed his opinion about his WWE tenure. He stated that he had never fought the legendary luchador in a singles match. Furthermore, he said that he would love to go one-on-one with the Judgment Day member Finn Balor at WrestleMania one day.
I’ve never had a singles match against Rey Mysterio. If I have another WrestleMania in me, I’d love to wrestle Finn Balor there. But as far as just goals, I think I’ve had it so good; I really can’t ask for more,”Kevin Owens via Busted Open Radio
The 39-year-old star showed his gratitude towards the business and said he had achieved everything he wished for. Even though he failed to replicate the magic at WrestleMania XL, he looked focused on starting a new journey in his career. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Prizefighter.
