Kevin Pietersen shares Rahul Dravid’s advice to England openers Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley
Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter today to share an email that Rahul Dravid had sent him back in 2014 and asked the English cricket team to send the same to current England openers Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley. In the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka, the duo has been having a difficult time against spin and especially against left-arm offie Lasith Embuldeniya.
On day 2 of the second Test today, Embuldeniya removed both openers within the first 7 overs to leave England tottering at 5/2. However, skipper Joe Root came up with a counter-attacking knock to take his side to a score of 98/2 in 30 overs at stumps, still trailing by 283 runs.
Dravid’s advice ‘changed my game’ – Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter today following the English openers’ struggles to state that the duo must find the email that Rahul Dravid had sent him. He further stated that the advice changed his game. Very soon, the Englishman shared pictures of what Dravid had written, taken from his autobiography.
Pietersen asked the English cricket team to print the email and give it to Sibley and Crawley. He further offered to discuss the same at length with the duo if they wanted. In the email, Dravid offers technical advice on how to play spinners in Asian conditions, giving various suggestions on how one needs to adjust footwork as well as on how one can practice without pads to get better at it.
