By playing well in his first start as an NFL quarterback, Shedeur Sanders placed a lot of pressure on head coach Kevin Stefanski, who now had to choose between his two rookie signal callers.
On one hand, the Cleveland Browns head coach had earlier reiterated that Dillon Gabriel would return as their starter once he clears the league’s concussion protocol.
But that was before Sanders displayed his arm talent and awareness in their impressive win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Colorado alum was poised and did not have any jitters, which is what most rookie QBs struggle with.
Even after he threw an interception, the 23-year-old studied film on the sidelines to ensure he does not commit a similar mistake again. Thankfully, he did not and instead led his team to score in the 4th quarter to ensure his team won.
After that game, Stefanski was again non-committal, and claimed that he would study film and speak with coaches before he made his decision. That confirmation could not have come sooner.
Shedeur will start this week. Obviously, the No. 1 job of a quarterback is to win. So, excited to get that 1st win under his belt.

The 43-year-old then emphasized that after that win, he expects Shedeur Sanders to do what is necessary to keep progressing, and that is to improve on every aspect of his game, so that more wins come along.
Fans react to Shedeur Sanders being named Browns starter
As soon as this clip reached social media, fans felt excited that Kevin Stefanski did right by Shedeur Sanders. He will be the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, at least for the next game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Fans believe it was time for the head coach to understand what he was getting out of his 5th round pick. They felt Sanders had proved in just 1 game that he can lead a team to win, something Dillon Gabriel could not.
They hope the Texas native will do what is needed and perform well against the 49ers, who will probably throw everything at him. Check out examples of those reactions below:
LFG WE DONT NEED TO THROW KEVIN INTO THE LAKE 🎉

Starting Shedeur against the 49ers is the kind of fearless, all-time GOAT masterclass decision that either births a legend or breaks the internet. No in-between.

Gabriel may be cleared, but starting Shedeur against the 49ers makes it clear the Browns want to see what they’ve got in him right away.

Stefanski may have saved his job and prevented mob rule at the stadium Sunday!

I will admit, I was one of his haters. Rooting for him though.

Congrats, Shedeur. 🫱🏻🫲🏾

That’s a pivotal step given Stefanski’s guy is Gabriel who is cleared to play.
No brainer, but don’t get too excited. The Browns are not playing the Raiders again this season.

Shedeur Sanders will probably be aware that the 49ers’ defense can and has stopped young quarterbacks with ease. Therefore, his preparation this week is paramount to his chances of staying as the starting QB of the Cleveland Browns.
Former NFL star believes Kevin Stefanski is risking his job holding Shedeur Sanders back
Ahead of his first win against the Raiders, many analysts and former players pointed out that head coach Kevin Stefanski was undermining Shedeur Sanders by not allowing him to share 1st team reps with Dillon Gabriel.

Now that he has proved what he can do with the 1st team, former NFL Richie Incognito had this to say while debating the Colorado alum’s 1st full game.
Those guys in that locker room, they’ll sniff that out. Myles Garrett is saying, ‘This kid went out and made those throws, we dominated on defense, we got some juice, and you’re not going to commit to him?’ C’mon.

The former guard and his co-panelists agreed that Stefanski is not doing himself any favors by not going with what the team wants, as those teammates want Sanders to lead. If it does not happen, those frustrated voices may reach the ownership.
