Former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for murdering his girlfriend, Taylor Pomanski, in the Houston area in 2021. Ware reached a deal with the prosecution in exchange for pleading guilty to murder charges, resulting in prolonged prison time.
According to sources close to Pomanski, she was last seen at a house party on April 25, 2021, before disappearing without a trace.
The police arrested Ware on suspicion of murder but released him after he paid a $23,000 bond on April 20, 2021. He ended up back in police custody on July 28, 2022, after failing to show up for bond supervision hearings.

He had a run-in with the law in the same month. They discovered controlled substances (a Xanax pill) and firearms (an AK-47 and a pistol).
It took the police until December to locate Taylor Pomanski’s body. They found her body in a ditch in Harris County, Texas.
The police documents revealed by the Houston Chronicle revealed that Pomanski was attacked with a sharp knife, hit with a blunt object, and strangled. Another charge was later added. Ware reportedly burned Pomanski’s body. The reason behind the violent and cruel act remains unknown.

Kevin Ware Jr.’s short NFL career and checkered past
Ware, a tight end, went undrafted in 2003. The Washington Commanders (then Washington Redskins) signed him for the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster midway through the campaign for one game before being waived. One day after getting waived, the Redskins re-signed him to the practice squad.

The Redskins saw use of his 6-foot-3 stature as a blocker and activated him once again. This time, he played a total of 11 games for the Capital franchise.
However, his performances didn’t meet the Redskins’ standards, and he was waived for the second time. The San Francisco 49ers signed Ware in 2004 and waived him right before week one. He was recalled to the practice squad a month later and was active for a total of five games for the 49ers, recording one reception for nine yards. The Niners waived him in November.
On May 3, 2005, Ware signed for the Oakland Raiders (now the Las Vegas Raiders). However, the club waived him after just one month.
In 2018, the police caught Kevin Ware with controlled substances, and he served time for two years. Eight years prior, in 2010, Ware was accused of ditching a bar without paying his tab. The police took him into custody for assaulting a valet and evading arrest. The Harris County court released Ware after he paid a $10,000 bond.
Ware studied and played football for the University of Washington. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and received a suspended sentence.
The San Diego, California, native completed his high school at Klein Oak in Texas before committing to play for the Washington Huskies.
